Pretty good place. Nice selection of beer, good quantity, maybe a few rarities here and there. They have some nice deals, but they can also be pretty $$. The staff is not very knowledgable, but if your on ratebeer you should be able to figure it out yourself. Definitely worth checking out.

This place has a pretty respectable selection of brews and a somewhat knowledgeable staff. The prices are a kick to the pants though.

What I thought would be a little store with one cooler of local beers turned out to have a pretty solid selection. About 7 coolers stocked with some really nice beers and a few other shelves. The staff was nice and pointed out the new beer arrivals.

I stopped by during RBSG. This does not look like much on the outside, but they have an entire aisle (very narrrow) dedicated to beer. I think the selection is outstanding, and they carry lots of the west coast beers. Too bad my suitcase was not larger, because I would have walked out with much more. Regional offerings from Deschutes, Port/Lost Abbey, Alesmith, Green Flash, Bruery, Ballast Point, Firestone Walker, etc. in addition to imports. Prices are a tad on the high side (I can get stone cheaper in TN!), but I have seen worse. Worth a visit in addition to the Pizza Port shop.

This place has gone under a major renovation, beautiful new shelving down the middle isle and power-sliding front door make it more like an actual grocery store. All the San Diego craft beers are very well represented and there are a vast selection of beers from throughout the US. Belgian beers are also very well represented and you’re be sure to find whatever you’re looking for from anything Wine Warehouse carries. The cooler doors are crammed full of 22’s and six pack goodies. All specialty and seasonal beers are brought into Texas liquor but you’ve got to get there early because they always sell out quick. If you need anything special make sure you ask Ryan Salem (owner/operator) you’ll usually find him working the register before 2pm. Ryan takes alot of pride in his store and is constantly finding new a hard to find brews that he eargerly brings into his strore. All and all this is the holiday wine cellar of Carlsbad, drop by and see what I’m talking about and I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprized!

Not a bad little place. Found some stuff I hadn’t had. Doesn’t compare to the new bottle shop right down the street at Pizza Port, but still not bad considering.

From the outside, this place looks fairly ghetto, but I’ve been surprised a few times to walk in and find some good Belgian and local beers in the cooler. Most of the time, the Stone and Alesmith goodies are available and on a reliable basis. Plenty of imports (mostly Belgian) to choose from, including more expensive bottles and magnums. Most smaller bottles have to be purchased in 6 or 4 packs, which is why I prefer the individual bottle basis of Holiday Wine Cellars in Escondido. But this place does the job if your just stopping by to do some quick browsing for good SoCal beers and common Belgies.

Update, 9/29/08. Holy price gouging! Every beer priced over $5 is $2 more than many other stores. Go to BevMo. For example Le Freak is $7.49 everywhere else, $9.99 at Texas Liquor. Mind your wallet!!! Went to Texas Liquor because I knew they had a good selection, and the damn PP Bottle Shop has really crappy weekday hours. Pretty good selection of local stuff GF, PP, Stone, Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, all were represented. Nothing too hard to find here though, just the usuals. Quite a few Rogue brew’s as well as what I consider to be a good selection of Belgian’s and Belgian Style brews. Especially if your looking for large formats (3l, magnums, etc.). Duvel in a magnum, Piraat in a magnum, among others. They have added some new shelving in the center aisle since the last time I was there, and it looks good, and holds more beer. They always have a deal going too. Buy 6 and get the 7th for a nickle.

Nice selection of west coast beers as well as some decent imports. We always shop here when staying in town.

They have three cooler doors full of craft beer singles hailing from the west coast, points east, Belgium, Europe and elsewhere. Decent pricing too. No real surprises here so I walked out empty handed. Also a mirror like collection opposite but not in the cooler. So if it isn’t in the frig check there too.
