branquinha (2), Carrboro/Duval duality, Florida does not count - explanation | | November 21, 2011 The beer selection is always changing, usually lots of Belgians, but definitely get the prime rib sandwich ! | jtd6628 (8), North Carolina does not count - explanation | | July 9, 2011 Great verity but they don’t mind charging you for it. Cool place relax. | | DukeBrewDevil (36), Chapel Hill, North Carolina | | January 14, 2011 I’ve been here a few times and been pleased with my visit each time. Their mussels are great, served in a big bucket with a variety of seasoning choices and hunks of bread. It has a Irish pub feel inside and a pretty large, partially covered outdoor patio. The patio’s nice but can get smoky. The beer selection’s quite good, hitting the Belgians heavily, then a few well-chosen local and American craft beers. They rotate the beers, so even without a "Tyler’s" sized list, there’s always something interesting to try. Great little place. | | OldGrowth (132), North Carolina | | January 10, 2009 been several times now, like 5 tables and 2 booths as you walk in, then a few more booths before you hit the bar, L shaped bar with like 12 to 15 chairs and a narrow table with spinning round stools. Dining area has 6 or so various size table, nice big patio area with a somewhat protected area with tables and a few big picnic table outside. Inside is a little dark, but not detrimental, projection TV for sporting events. Music seemed loud. I’m an old fart though. Kind of an industrial look, but has some warm colors and some things on the wall that makes it feel friendly. Service has always been good when I’ve gone but I’m typically there when it’s not crowded so it ought to be good, So far food has always been good, I had the fish taco’s this last time and thought they were great. everything I’ve had had been done well. Big on the Belgian beers, but some NC and American micros. I had the Big Boss aces & ates this time. Wife had Highland Gaelic. | | DMRz (10), Durham, North Carolina | | October 25, 2008 I have been to Milltown a few times. They have the best selection of Belgians in the area, and serve in proper glassware. The food is above average for bar fare. Their patio is the perfect place to sit back and have a few with some friends - I find the bar itself a bit dark for my liking. | | jhumphries69 (33), Tyrone, Georgia | | October 18, 2008 This was my second time to Milltown - the first time was a couple of years ago. Just as I remembered: great tap list, extensive (though pricy) selection of Belgian beers, and very good food. We had a cheese plate which featured some nice, tasty, runny cheeses and interesting, savory contrasts (black olives, piquillo pepper and onion jam). The entrees were steak frites and mussels. We’ve had the Belgianmussels and thought they were great (scallions, garlic, beer). This time we ordered the Spanish mussels (chorizo sausage, tomatoes, garlic, and onions). Very, very good mussels. The steak was tasty too. The fries were good but a little over-salted. | | JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | May 25, 2008 Second time at Milltown, this time on a glorious spring late afternoon. The interior o the bar is welcoming, with dark woods and all kinds of beer signs (some truly nice brewery-customized taps are visible too, Delirium in particular). But the real deal is to sit on the patio. The beer selection is quite fine, a mix of taps and bottles, with locals, domestics, and Belgians all represented well (though of course the emphasis is on Belgians). Food is fairly limited but generally well done, sort of midway between what you can get at Tyler’s or at The Federal in terms of quality. Nice place. | | emacgee (57), Carrboro, North Carolina | | May 12, 2008 [ Updated January 23, 2012 ] Nice selection of Belgians and of course at Belgian prices. Hard to go in here for a night and not end up spending at the very east 20 bucks. Hercules at about 5 bucks a pint is the best deal going. Pretty nice atmosphere. One of the bar guys was kind of a douche to me when I asked for a different glass (sorry I’d prefer a tulip to a chalice and I’m going to drink my 20 dollar bottle of Achel Extra out of whatever I want). But its great to have a local Belgian beer bar. | | JasonG (36), Salt Lake City, Utah | | April 23, 2008 Fairly easy to find, but very difficult to find nearby parking. Try across the street at the art center. The place is somewhat small overall. They have a somewhat small but high quality draft list, comprised particularly of good belgains, including St. Bernardus and Qwak, amoung others. Food was pretty good, burgers and such. Not a lot of veggie options if that’s what you’re looking for. Definitely worth a visit, probably the best beer bar in the area. | | performula (28), Heart of the Rockies, Colorado | | October 30, 2007 [ Updated September 7, 2008 ] Looks like an old hardware store. The place has an english pub thing going on. Bartender was pretty good. The pretzels were great. The cheese was made from Spaten - amazing. Lots of beers in this place, huge Belgian selection. Good draughts. Proper glassware. Parking is ridiculous. Every place I found around had a sign reading No parking, For residents only, or No parking for Milltown. Be prepared.
As a regular their service sucks. Great spot for a visit or two but beyond that stay away. The girl at the bar is impatient. The Emo dude with glasses is tough when five people are behind him. One of the five owners is sweet. |
