First stop in town on the way down to Tampa for RBWG. This is probably not the best place to choose if you want to taste the best beer that Charleston has to offer but it advertised BBQ and I needed to tick some BBQ in every state, so this is what we did for lunch. Beautiful area and parking wasnít too terrible, but the beer and service were not very good, and the food portions were a bit small for what we paid. The layout of the building was kind of neat though. The brewery is in the middle of the room enclosed by glass or plexiglass. There are tables surrounding it on each of the three floors. We sat at the bar off to the one side of the ground floor.

There were 7 beers on tap during our visit. 5 were year round and 2 were seasonal (IPA and chocolate milk stout). As mentioned before, all pretty meh. The food was pretty good but they brought out half the food first and said the rest was coming. That wouldnít be bad if they brought the rest out a couple minutes later but it took a good 10-15 minutes. I guess the moral of the story here is donít eat here if youíre in a hurry. Also, donít expect amazing beer here.

A very large brewpub in an old grocery store. Itís arranged over three floors and the brew kit rises through the centre like a set of gigantic cathedral organ pipes. They had six of their own beers on offer with samplers available. The beers werenít particularly exciting but they were perfectly OK and the food was quite good. (Visited 16 February 2014).

We were staying down the street from the brewpub and stopped in for lunch. Nice place, good atmosphere, decent food and several of their beers were on tap. We had a light lunch and one of their samplers, they were decent. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Stopped here for some dinner. Huge place that occupies 3 floors. Great service, decent food. 8 of their own beers on draught when I was there that were decent.

Large place with a bit more character than your average big brewpub. Sme brewery equipment in the center, but most is behind the bar. Six beers on tap when I visited, available in a taster flight. All were mediocre except the wheat, which was not good. Food was very tasty though. Prices typical for the downtown area.

Hereís the thing, the beers were poor. The food we tried was fine, and the location was great. It could have been better.

Beer was mediocre, but the place is fun, which should count for a lot in my book.

I am not a fan of this place. On the bright side, I did eat and the food was good. That was about the only good part however. Parking is on the street or in a garage a block away. The bartender was not very good at her job. She showed displeasure at my order and show me little attention. The place doesnít train their employees well enough so it may not be entirely her fault. As evidence I watched her basically pour a gallon and a half of beer down the drain trying to fill a growler. Prices were too high. The beers... well... I thought the first beer I tried was pretty good. It was a Budweiser clone and it was the best I had. Enough said. There are some changes afoot here as they have apparently recently changed the beer menu. The beers in the RB database that have 30 or 40 ratings each were nowhere to be found when I visited, but they did have "long time favorites" on tap that only have one rating here. On the beer board I assume they mean "brewed on" actually means "tapped on" or else one of the beers I had today was brewed yesterday. Itís in the French Quarter of Charleston so it will exude ambiance, but the place inside, well, the word that occurred to me at the time was unkempt. It is close to Charleston Beer Exchange so it has that going for it.
