| brigg (11), Washington DC | | April 28, 2011 Better than Kroger in Charlottesville (and in the same shopping center), and better than most grocery stores that I have been to. The mean in terms of quality is not as good as Whole Foods, but they might have a bigger selection (close call). Definitely a great place to go later in the day after Wine Warehouse or Whole Foods is closed (though there is also Beer Run for late night runs). The selection fluctuates a little bit among certain beers (the ones I usually want). Plus, it is convenient to those near central C’ville and (to a greater extent) UVA. There is no service to speak of, so I wasn’t sure how to rate that. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | July 13, 2010 The best grocery store in the area in terms of beer selection with the exception of Whole Foods, and a tick better than the Hollymead location already in the database. Located near the University in a large shopping center. Plenty of parking. Prices are competitive. Customer service doesn’t exist. There are plenty of macros, but also a few Belgians and a good representation of the local and regional craft beer scenes, as well as some national micros. Overall, worth a stop if you need to pick up some good beer late at night, but before 10PM there are better options open for bottles. |
