Visited 9.5.16 quite late at night. I think it was either the one place that was open or the closest to our hotel. A band was finishing playing and the place was crowded and noisy. Service was flimsy, tables weren’t clean. There was food and vegan options but nothing too memorable. They have local beer on tap but one of them was too skunky and I suspect it’s due to bad maintenance. Still, if you’re there, if there’s no one else to go...

A decent bar, with an old school look. Beer selection is large and okay. The service pretty much sucks. The food is edible. They have pool tables and a ton of cigarette smoke upstairs.

While waiting for my wife in a shop next to Miller’s I sitopped for a beer. There were 12 beers on tap and many more in bottles. The bartender was busy but answered my questions. The selection was broad and offered a choice for many tastes. The food looked great especialy the sandwichs.

The decor is bright, airy, and refreshing. I’m surprised by the other ratings here as far as good goes, because I have been here at least 4 times, and always thought the food was phenomenal. I remember the crab cakes were great (one waitress claimed they were the best in town), and I also remember an appetizer that was some kind of beef and lettuce wrap. Servers were great: friendly and knowledgeable, and pretty quick, too. Beer selection was not bad--they had some good beers, if not a great number.

The only value in this place is that it’s one of the few places where the under-21 crowd can be exposed to halfway decent beer. Don’t get draft beer. Don’t eat the food. Order bottles, and insist on opening them yourself. The key phrase from the health inspections for me is open staph infection on one of the employees. Oh, I guess if you’re a rabid Dave Matthews fan you should stop here. He bartended here or something. Yawn.

a popular bar in downtown charlottesville. it has a ok selection of american micros but the food is not the best. service is good if you can get it because it seems to be always packed during the weekend. it has music from time to time, but charges.

This bar was very dark making it difficult for me to read the menu. They had a pretty extensive beer list filled with domestic craft beers that were pretty rare for a midwesterner. The service wasn’t great, and I didn’t go for any food. I finally left because the other patrons weren’t too friendly and some bum was harassing me. I was glad to be able to try some beers I wouldn’t normally be able to get, and the bar seemed to have a better selection than most others around the area. I just felt it was a bit too dive like.

Miller’s is a good place to go... it’s not the best food in the world, but their burgers are some of the greatest in town. The beer selection has just been changed and they offer more than they used to. Unfortunately, their beer list doesn’t have prices, so that can be tricky. Friendly service, for the most part. Some of the waitresses are fantastic... the others usually don’t last long. Edited to add: the food quality has gone down in recent months (when they cut their menu at the end of Summer, 2005), and the service can be pretty spotty.
