| Velkyal (62), Charlottesville, Virginia | | February 21, 2012 Both for the fact that they have a decent selection of bottles to buy and for the fact that they have a good bar in the store, While Foods is one of my favourite places to go. Friday afternoon happy hour from 4-6 is pretty much required post work week drinking! | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | October 18, 2011 Another stop while taking a break from camping in Shenandoah and visiting where my wife grew up. Bottle selection was certainly good for a grocery store. Whole Foods seems to do fairly well in that department, usually offering a nice variety of craft beer. It’s still a grocery store, so in addition to getting a couple of beers to bring back, managed to get something for dinner as well. | | tunneler (11), Charlottesville, Virginia | | February 20, 2010 They do keep up with some of the new stuff coming in through local distributors but their selection is smaller than the better places in town and there are not that many beers available for mix-a-six. The best grocery store for beer in town, but not the best store by a long shot. | | Butters (164), Richmond, Virginia | | December 11, 2008 This store is in the same shopping center as the Market Street Wineshop Uptown location. Relatively small selection, but they do have a couple of nice aspects. The food is terrific quality. They have a *mix-your-own-six* program that features some local and regional micros. And this is the only place where I have ever found Redhook double black stout. Not really a destination for beer, but if you are already shopping here, or scoping out the wineshop, it couldnt hurt to take a peek. |
