Convenient location across from Trader Joes, adjacent to Kroger’s and near Kmart and Whole Food. Plenty of parking. All the wine is in cardboard boxes, while the beers is against the back and side walls. This means that space is pretty tight. Selection is small to medium, and I didn’t see anything that stood out, other than a handful of interesting ciders and meads. Staff was friendly and helpful.

02/24/14 UPDATE: Unfortunately the service here has become extremely uneven. Sometimes it feels like you’re pulling teeth if you ask a question that requires any staff to move from behind the counter. They’ve also messed up email orders I’ve made and offered no apology. As a store that offers a markedly inferior selection to Beer Run, they should be doing everything they can to hold onto customers. They’re not.

09/13/13: Surprisingly good spot. No frills ambiance, convenient location. While the shop obviously specializes in wine, they have a fairly strong beer selection. There’s probably 350-400 beers on offer. The international stuff might actually be more interesting than what Beer Run usually has in stock. Domestic offerings are a little less exotic. One thing I like about this place is that they send out emails whenever they get something limited in. The value’s solid. Overall, I’m more than happy to have this place around. Recommended.

This is one of my favorite wine/beer stores! Excellent selection, and knowledgeable staff!

This is a very good bottle shop but a word of warning. If you’re a big guy like me, it’s a bit cramped so watch your step. The wine is stacked in boxes on the floor with the beer lining the shelves so it’s never going to get any points for ambiance. They have a very generous pick-six policy and they didn’t hesitate to break up a six to sell a single. They also have a fantastic selection of local, regional, and world craft brands. It’s definitely up there with beer run for the best bottle shop in town.

While camping in Shenandoah, my wife and I took a day trip out to visit where she lived growing up in Charlottesville, so we took a little detour and stopped here as well. Worth the stop. Nice selection of local things, as well as a good amount of imports and other domestic micro. Managed to pick up a couple of things that don’t make it up to NY. Would certainly stop in again if I were passing through the area.

Visited this place while passing through Charlottesville on our way to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We were unfortunate to get there a few minutes after they closed, which was a surprise since it was 7:30 on a Friday. Luckily, a kind employee saw us and allowed us a quick through the store. The craft selection is off to the right with a nice selection of U.S. stuff as well as plenty of imports, especially Belgian beer. Nice showing of Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze, and at really nice pricing. The U.S. selection was quite impressive, as they still had Firestone Abacus and Parabola, the former of which went in a day or so in Northern Virginia. Other than that, lots of standard distribution stuff, but they had it all, so no complaints there. All in all, I’d certainly head back to this place to pick up some Belgians as well as to see what limited-release stuff they might still have.

Possibly the best bottle shop in Charlottesville. Excellent range from around the world and always willing to try and get new stuff in.

Largest selection in town I believe, though you’ll still have to go to Market Street Wine Shop and Beer Run to get the full breadth of selection available in Cville. Not everyone on the staff knows beer, but one or two guys seem to try everything new as it comes in. Large selection of singles and they will let you break apart a 6. Prices about as low as you’ll find except for a Total Beverage-type place.

This place does mostly wine, however they still have one of the best selections of beer I have seen. They keep the place pretty cool. The prices are about average. This place has a great selection of singles. If you are in the area I would go check it out.

Hard to find but worth it. I gave it a 5 for ambiance because there wasn’t any and they didn’t even try. Cut open wine boxes are stacked all over. The beer is located on the right wall. Very nice selection of local beers along with many others. The guys working there were very helpful. I was allowed to break 6 packs and take a single. The prices were very reasonable.
