| keepersj12 (19), Sicklerville, New Jersey | | August 2, 2009 Hard to find but worth it. I gave it a 5 for ambiance because there wasn’t any and they didn’t even try. Cut open wine boxes are stacked all over. The beer is located on the right wall. Very nice selection of local beers along with many others. The guys working there were very helpful. I was allowed to break 6 packs and take a single. The prices were very reasonable. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | December 11, 2008 This place had the largest selection of beers in Charlottesville that I visited, its probably one of the largest selections in the state for that matter. They advertise *the lowest prices in town* but I found that not entirely to be the case. They will price match anywhere else in town though. Huge selection of 12oz single bottles in their *hodge podge* section. Knowledgeable staff. Lots of beers. Decent prices. What more could you want? ^editorial note^ I updated the number of bottles they carry, and somehow I got credit for the *entered by*. Im guessing it has something to do with ratebeer simple mode. I apologize to whoever I stole the credit from | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | October 22, 2007 [ Updated September 19, 2009 ] Decent prices, and the beer and wine selections are both top-notch. Ambience and staff are unpretentious and the staff is very knowledgable. Temperature is kept low to benefit the goods, so if you chill easily, bring a sweater. Good Belgian selection. They allow you to pull singles from packs, and they have a very knowledgeable craft beer manager. How cool is that? | | Immy (88), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | June 28, 2007 Hit this place on the way back from RBSG 2007. Thanks maniac! Mostly a wine store, with wine piled high in boxes. Good selection of beer, particularly lambics. Lots of oddball stuff, a cool place to stop. | | hoplover406 (24), Crofton, Maryland | | April 30, 2007 This place is excellent. The selection of beer in this WINE store is tremendous. I have purchased some hard-for-me-to-find singles like Du Dolle Mad Bitch, Ayinger Celebrator, Bells Hopslam....etc. Every time I go to this fun, artsy mountain town to visit friends I always drop about $100 bucks here. P.S.: If you find yourself in this town take time to go check out the outdoor mall and be sure to have lunch at REVOLUTION SOUP! My good friend Will Richey owns the joint and he maintains a small but excellent selection of hard to find, good beer(Bells,DFH,Belgians...etc) in his resteraunt with some damn good vittles as well. | | maniac (90), Richmond, Virginia | | November 26, 2006 Very nice selection of beer. Predominantly a wine store, but still has shelves around the wall for beer. Lots of stuff that isn’t easily available in Richmond, and relatively cheap too. One of the best selections of Cantillon that i’ve seen anywhere in the state. | brigg (3), Charlottesville, Virginia does not count - explanation | | February 27, 2006 [ Updated April 22, 2006 ] A great selection of imports and not a bad selection of US microbrews. The staff is very knowledgable and very friendly. The atmosphere is plain and simple: the place is small and stacked with wine and beer from wall to wall. I love it! | doubleipa (5), Georgia does not count - explanation | | December 16, 2005 These folks are great!! Even though I’ve never been to the store, I’ve had an exceptional experience dealing with them. Huh? (you might say). Well let me explain. Since I live in Georgia I can’t get many of the beers I’ve come to enjoy and with our archaic three-tier distribution system we may never get to have some. (No Stone, Victory, Allagash, or DFH) Anyway my sister and brother-in-law live in C’ville and I knew I’d see them at Christmas in Myrtle Beach. So I thought he could bring some beers for me. I emailed Wine Warehouse and explained what types of beers I enjoy and the breweries I can’t get in Georgia. Well I received an email back within two hours that listed about 25 recommended beers!! At this point I was dealing with Matthew Brown. He offerred to set aside whatever I wanted so my brother-in-law could pick it up. I jumped at the chance and will soon be able to enjoy some outstanding beers. This was unbelievable customer service!!!! I’ll have to stop in next Christmas when we make our bi-annual trek North. | | hershiser2 (21), Charlottesville, Virginia | | November 9, 2005 [ Updated September 28, 2009 ] A nice wine shop that carries a decent amount of beer- all available in singles (even if it’s not in the "singles" section, you can pull one from a pack). Very reasonably priced, you’ll find a bunch from common micros to rare beers. Definitely a place to check out- and the staff is helpful and friendly. | Nel (5), Virginia does not count - explanation | | November 7, 2005 This place is pretty much the only bottle shop in charlottesville. I’m really not sure why it hadn’t been added to ratebeer yet. This place has a lot of good beer. They usually have some good stone and dfh stuff. Bear republic is generally hanging around. Some decent belgian stuff, but I haven’t seen westy in there yet. Unibroue is also represented. the last time I was in I picked up a trappist rochefort glass, I was pretty happy. The staff is always very helpful and ready to tell me what beers they recommend etc. This place is pretty rockin. |
