| msante79 (253), Mount Prospect, Illinois | | March 11, 2012 Stopped in with a buddy while in town for business. Located in nice downtown area. Kink of a weird front room with long bar. Lots of additional seating in back and what appears to be a patio area. Majority of taps at far end of bar. Mostly regional selection which was good for me, but probably doesn’t do a whole lot for the locals. | | blipp (68), Newark, New Jersey | | February 19, 2012 Average sports bar vibe with a decent selection and Buffalo fare - wings, beef on weck, etc. A lot of taps, but nothing out of the ordinary. Prices are average, maybe even a bit on the high side for the area. | | magsinva (55), Virginia | | September 2, 2011 The vibe is typical sports bar. Younger crowd with nothing interesting to say. Wait staff not great. They didn’t cover the taps they were out of. They had a waitress behind the bar who knew nothing about beer. For out if state IDs they have to have the manager look at your ID, when the waitress feels like enforcing the policy. The beer was all sold out of the same basic pint glass style that they kept in the fridge. The beer selection was pretty good, though it would have been nice if more than 4-5 local beers out of the 60 they have on tap. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | August 31, 2011 Typical sports bar feel. You walk in and go "i’ve been in this bar at least 100 times even though I’ve never been here before. They have over 60 taps and over 100 bottles but it’s not very carefully chosen. They have very few local or regional beers focusing more on national craft and bmc drainpour. The waitress behind the bar knew next to nothing about the beer and kept hovering over me asking me if I wanted another beer when I still had a 1/3 of a glass left. She was very rude to my sister insisting that a manager inspect her drivers license because she was from out-of-state although they didn’t do the same thing to the next two guys who sat at the bar. They serve everything in refrigerated pint glasses which just kills something like a hefeweizen. And the worst part was the prices were outrageous. Most of their pints were $5-$6.50 for some pretty pedestrian beers. $6.50 for Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan is just robbery. The only saving grace is that their Buffalo wings are really solid. As a beer destination it’’s a complete loss. | | drowland (116), Tallahassee, Florida | | March 18, 2011 Visited 3/12/11.
Well-lit sports-bar type of place, but without all the TVs and all that jazz. Nothing special, but not bad.
Our service was prompt and friendly, and the manager even talked to us a couple of times. They didn’t know a whole lot about the beers, but were willing to give samples and help if possible.
A huge selection of beers, but nothing that blew me away as special. With that many bottles, I’d be worried about freshness.
The food was pretty good, but definitely didn’t blow me away or anything.
The food and beers were a bit overpriced in my books.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience. I had never been to a Taco Mac before so it was nice to finally hit one up! | | BeeriedEyed (11), | | February 2, 2011 This bar, by far, has the most various beer selection in town that I have yet to find. Almost over 50 beer on tap! Most of which are beers from around the country. I have tried many a beer I couldn’t find anywhere else. Their price is what you would expect from a downtown bar so make sure you pick a beer you know you can’t find anywhere else. Other wise their food and atmosphere is what you would expect from a bar restaurant. For sure the place you want to go to try something new! | | lithy (156), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | June 30, 2009 Stopped in for a pint of Prima Pils, huge bottle list, big draft selection. Didn’t eat, but wings are not my thing. Bartenders were very helpful. | | Suttree (120), Knoxville, Tennessee | | June 22, 2009 Pretty much like any other Taco Mac, except that the selection was not what I’m used to (I blame Tennessee distributor and weird-ass beer laws). Still I was able to find a few gems. Like others have said, the menu seemed to be out of date, so ended up just ordering what I could see. | | jzzbassman (26), New Albany, Mississippi | | July 15, 2008 The food was mediocre and the first 4 beers I ordered they were out of which got really annoying. Waitress was nice but knew nothing about what they carried. Not something I would really travel for. | | suddenlyissoon (13), Chattanooga, Tennessee | | May 2, 2008 Unfortunately, this is one of the few places to go in Chattanooga for a decent beer. They have a pretty wide selection and the bartenders all seem fairly knowledgeable about the selection. If you’re from the area they usually seem to like you a little bit better (Chattanooga has a HUGE tourism population in the summer) and have often taken my suggestions on new beers to get. The food is always fairly good but just your standard restaurant fair. |
