| jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | October 1, 2011 I’ve had to have driven buy this place at least a hundred times before I noticed its super close to me on the rb map... small and dirtyish spot, reminds you of any local liquor store... about 10 coolers of beer, almost exclusively 6 packs, really good stuff, a ton of locals and they are selling at a $1 dollar cheaper than they sell at any other store, had 4 sixers of fff including Zombie Dust and Jinx Proof, but I can’t comment on the freshness of anything, which I am skeptical about... decent place worth going to if you’re close and looking for something local and cheap | | dinkle50 (20), Chicago, Illinois | | July 14, 2011 Right down the street from my apartment. This place doesn’t have a lot going for it outside of having the occasional diamond in the rough. I don’t think they get much foot traffic for the craft beer drinker so they almost always have something interesting I haven’t had before. Service leaves something to be desired and don’t forget, cash only. | | Cliff (26), Avon Lake, Ohio | | February 4, 2011 This is my go-to place when in the city. my sister-in-law lives right across the street, so whenever I visit I always hit up Danny’s. Its a dump, more of a liquor store. Cardboard on the floor, dirty, maybe an odd odor or two, but they have an excellent selection at really good prices. This is the kind of place that has limited release beers sitting on shelves for a while because the local customers only want cheap liquor, and nobody else knows the selection, so things tend to last a bit longer. Cash only but there is an ATM in the store. Also, it is attached to a pretty sweet dive bar called the Tap House. They have a good selection for a dive bar. Usually 3 Three Floyds beers, a Bells, Duvel Green, etc. | | emerge077 (69), < RIP Johnnies, Chicago, Illinois | | October 27, 2010 [ Updated January 17, 2011 ] Dannys... "exceptional" it is not. "Oddity" is more like it. This place has its pros and cons. Yes there is a decent craft selection here, sadly its often old or overpriced. The prices are higher at night... pretty funny if you ask me. Dreadnaught is here, but the old label, well over a year old. Seasonals come and go without even going on the shelf. Main business is crap beer and lotto tickets. The tap room next door is affiliated, and has had BCS on draft in the past. Still not sure what to make of this place after picking up beer here the last few years. Check out Honey 1 BBQ across the street, Quenchers, and Before You Go Liquors nearby. | | nbondi (39), Chicago, Illinois | | October 25, 2010 [ Updated February 7, 2011 ] Danny’s is a total diamond in the rough. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but be prepared to be impressed upon entering. Think same selection as Vas Foremost, but cheaper prices. Excellent selection of bombers and imports organized by brewer. They only accept cash. Bring plenty. Walked in looking for nothing in particular, walked out with Bell’s 25th anniversary, FFF Moloko, and Great Lakes Noferatu. Do not expect much in the way of knowledge from the cashier. Some stuff has a tendency to sit on the shelf for a while. Nice when it’s Rasputin XII, not when it’s FFF XI Anniversary... |
