Typical Whole Foods selection, whre there may not be an infinite NUMBER of choices, but the variety is good, and he quality generally very good. A few rare 3 Floyds selections, a few rare belgians, a smattering f good local and mid-west micros. Decent enough but not as good as the Whole Foods I’ve been to in Arizona, Palm Springs, or California.

This is where I bought most of the imports that I sampled while living in Chicago. There’s actually a great lineup of American craft beer as well, but I relied on Binny’s for most of those offerings. Solid imports include Chimay Grand Reserve, Chimay Tripel (White), Hacker Pschorr Sternweisse, Weihenstephaner Original and Hefeweissbier, Duvel, St. Peter’s India Pale Ale, Young’s Double Chocolate Stout, and a large range of Unibroue brands (Don De Dieu, 1837, La Fin Du Monde). Mediocre to good domestic beers include New Belgium Fat Tire, Goose Island Honker’s Ale and India Pale Ale, Three Floyds Gumballhead, SN Pale Ale, and Blue Moon. This was the selection two years ago, so it might have changed substantially by now. The staff are surprisingly friendly and down-to-earth. You wouldn’t expect such ’cheery’ people at a supermarket, but my service was uniformly excellent each time I came here. Certainly there are better places to buy beer in Chicago, but if you want to grab groceries and beer at the same time, this is a convenient location with an above average selection.
