| JCW (101), Cincinnati, Ohio | | March 5, 2012 Small bar on a very visible corner in OTR of Cincinnati. Fourteen taps, all killer, no fillers. Large beer menu to boot. | | Drewsky (12), Cincinnati, Ohio | | February 15, 2012 Great selection and friendly service. I like the atmosphere. | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | December 6, 2011 (Visited 07/2011): The Lackman is located on Vine and 13th street on the north side of downtown. Street parking looks to be the only option in the immediate vicinity.
The bar is located in the Lackman building which is named for a brewery located in Cincinnati in the early 1900s. The interior is cleanly laid out with the bar wrapping around on the left side. Red padded bar stools and an arched mirror adorn the bar itself. The rest of the space is devoted to
The Lackman has 14 beers on tap, including local options like Rivertown and Christian Moerlein. Other craft brewers like Stone, Bells and Rogue are available too. As for bottles there are over 50. Aside from the domestic macros, they serve regional beers like Kentucky Brewing, BBC and Christian Moerlein. Many common domestic microbreweries are represented too. As for imports they have a few such as Petrus, Chimay and the like. Lastly they have a section of the beer menu devoted to "Big Beers" like Stone VE, The Bruery Mischief, and DFH Sah’ Tea.
Service on an early afternoon was good. The bartenders were friendly and attentive while we were there. Not beer or service related per se but they make a damn good "Presbyterian" drink here too.
We did not have any food on our visit.
Overall this is a great spot to check out in the downtown Cincy area.
| | foundmd (26), Cincinnati, Ohio | | October 16, 2011 The Lackman is one of Cincinnati’s newest and best beer bars. The ambiance is modern and classy with very comfortable bar seating. 14 rotating taps focus on American crafts and Belgians. They seem to regularly get rare beers and serve in the appropriate glassware. Plenty of bottles are also available. Service has always been friendly, prompt, and knowledgable. They do not serve food but there’s plenty of great options nearby. Always a worthwhile stop. | | Tmoney99 (331), Cincinnati, Ohio | | June 27, 2011 [ Updated December 18, 2011 ] On the corner of 13th and Vine with parking on street and pay lots. Nicely remodeled small building with tile floor, wood bar and slide open front windows. Good selection of taps and bottles and I had two new beers for me. Freindly staff with good knoewledge of beers. Some talk of opening a brewpub nearby sometime in near future. Happy hour prices of $3.50 a pint. Good downtown location. | | OTRihtnsgbt (12), Ohio | | April 2, 2011 Lackman is in the most happening neighborhood in Cincinnati, OTR. This is downtown Cincinnati’s premier craft bar. Nice selection, though perhaps a little too pretentious at times. Beer doesn’t have to be limited to be good! Lackman has occasional tap takeover events that are well attended, feature a great selection and sometimes even attract a brewmaster. | | phaleslu (241), Saint Louis, Missouri | | October 11, 2010 The Lackman just opened in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, taking the logo of the old Lackman Brewery as its own. The interior is simple, hip, and unpretentious. It isn’t huge, but wasn’t overly crowded when we tried it out a couple weeks after the grand opening. There are 14 taps, with DFH, Goose Island, Victory, Dark Horse, Stone, Bear Republic, and more. There weren’t a ton of bottles; they opened with 30, had about 50 by the time I visited, and said more will be showing up. However, there were some cool ones, like Dark Horse Trip Ale, 2 versions of Saison du BUFF, and a good variety of other stuff. I hope this place does well and continues the beer and overall revitalization going on in OTR, Cincy’s old brewing district. I’ll be back to help them out for sure. |
