15 reviews for Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (Columbia)
Pookie9121 (9), Columbia, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | August 20, 2009 [ Updated September 3, 2009 ] A fantastic bar. I have been a beerknurd member since 2007. I usually sit at the bar and unless its a new bartender who doesn’t know me I get fast, polite service. The food is standard bar food fair (wings, burgers, fries, nachos) but the beer more than makes up for this one shortcoming. Definite recommendation. | USCBeerMan (7), Columbia, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | March 30, 2009 One of the best selections of beers in Columbia. decent service. The food is okay. | | Beershine (261), Where Climate Suits My Clothes, Vietnam | | February 6, 2009 My first Flying Saucer experience was fun. Loud, raucous, packed with 20-somethings. College/frat party vibe but in a good healthy happy way. Decent draught selection can keep you yapping all night. Fun sci-fi murals. They had X-rated trivia for shits and giggles. Servers wear schoolgirl outfits, which is a very cute look. Whatever it is it wasn’t boring. | | Oakes (421), gone rambling, Vietnam | | January 29, 2009 Lots of beers here. They were out of a couple of my selections, though, which drives me nuts. Service was ok. Very big, bright. Open late, a nice touch. Worth a stop, because there aren’t too many better places in Columbia. | | adavis234 (10), Columbia, South Carolina | | January 22, 2009 A chain bar that’s long on price and short on atmosphere. Although the selection is pretty good it is outweighed by the crowd, price and mediocre service. | | CoachJT (14), Columbia, South Carolina | | October 23, 2008 Great selection of beers, both on draft and bottled. The do a great job of keeping seasonals rotating, and frequently add new items. A bit pricey, but it’s worth it.
The food is slightly above average, nothing to write home about. | | nearbeer (98), Knoxville, Tennessee | | September 20, 2008 [ Updated September 27, 2008 ] Typical Saucer Emporium with college crowd. Pretty good selection, but nothing new or outstanding and a very disappointing regional representation. Food is slightly above average. Servers are attractive but not knowledgeable of either the food or beer menu, and not real interested in working either. Still probably the best selection in the area. | | NachlamSie (209), Tennessee | | August 20, 2008 This is probably the nicest Flying Saucer I’ve visited. It’s very spacious and clean while still maintaining the trademark appearance of the chain. The selection is wide and has anything for most beer drinkers. I was disappointed to not see more regional beer available, but that seems to be across the board in SC. I enjoyed some Bear Republic brews. Also, the waitstaff is particularly attractive at this location which utilized the assigned uniforms quite efficiently. If I stop in Columbia again for a beer, it will most likely be here. | jrmac (6), does not count - explanation | | March 25, 2008 Amazing selection of draught and bottle beer. My only complaint is the pricing. Some of the prices for beer is extremely inflated. I no longer go here because of it. Overall a great place just bring your credit card. | Fiona (8), Chapin, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | January 27, 2008 always busy not just college kids nice energy commendable selection demonstrating that columbia is becoming much more brew savvy |
