| Onenote81 (72), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | May 3, 2012 Originally reviewed: 7/16/09. Stopped by here when in town dropping my brother off at Ft. Jackson. Large building with half of the store dedicated to beer and wine. They even had their own entrance, which I missed. Beer section was tucked in the back left corner of the store. They had a large cooler section, which is all I saw at first. I thought, "man this isn’t that great of a selection." Turned around and facing the cooler was a large shelf dedicated solely to craft beer. Nice! That’s more like it. Saw some from Souther Tier (which we can’t get in NC), Thomas Creek, Terrapin, RJ Rockers, Stoudt’s, Weyerbacher, Victory, Bells, Founders, etc. Pretty good selection. I picked up some bombers of some Southern Tier selections. Not sure how fresh some of this stuff is. That’s my only concern here. Lots and lots of dust on some of these bottles, and they still carried some of the out-of-seasonal offerings from Terrapin, namely Big Hoppy Monster (last Fall), and Coffee Stout (last Winter). Prices were very reasonable. I’d come here for sure if I were a local. Recommend. | | Crompt (10), Clover, South Carolina | | November 12, 2011 Pretty good beer selection but mostly readily available domestic and imports that aren’t very impressive. There are some nice gems here and there but you have to look for them. Friendly staff would be happy to help you find what you’re looking for. Usually fairly priced. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | June 24, 2010 Not near as good as the big store out in Irmo. Still there will be some beers here that are not at the other store. Why??? No clue.... | | Pookie9121 (18), Atlanta, Georgia | | August 20, 2009 The absolute best place other than the sister location off of I-26 to purchase beer. They have one of the largest selections I have ever seen. Varied selection with different seasons. Only wish they received more of the rare vintages. Polite staff. | Mountainhigh (1), does not count - explanation | | July 16, 2009 excellent service ,nice selection | | adavis234 (11), Columbia, South Carolina | | January 22, 2009 Fairly good selection, especially considering the other stores in the area, but not incredible. Some micro brews and a few foreign beers but nothing that’s particularly rare. Very good prices, especially when you pay cash. The employees are very helpful and friendly and there is a decent wine selection to boot. A good place to go in Columbia but not worth it’s own stop. | | nearbeer (144), Knoxville, Tennessee | | February 23, 2008 [ Updated July 28, 2008 ] Pretty good selection of sixers, not so great on singles. Average-to-good prices, sort-of friendly staff. | | NYHarvey (124), New York, New York | | February 1, 2008 Pretty much just like all the other Greens. Decent selection, great prices and even better prices when you pay cash. Not nearly as good as the Georgia Greens, but definitely worth a stop and I managed to spend about a hundred bucks so there is definitely some good beer to be had. Also had most of the SC craft brews I am familiar with. | | NachlamSie (357), Tennessee | | August 26, 2007 Holy cow. Given that the other Green’s in Columbia is so big, I was expecting this one to be the smaller sister store. Well, it’s at least as large with an even more extensive beer selection. South Carolina just raised the 6% cap maybe three months ago maximum, and Green’s is already tearing the roof off. They already built a climate controlled cellaring room which is much like the one in the Ponce location in Atlanta. I wish the American micro selection was a bit more extensive, but it’s decent. Imports abound here and after a few more months they should get an even better selection. I’ve seen some imports here I’ve never even heard of (granted they looked horrible). As usual, Green’s has some awesome prices. If I ever come through Columbia again, I’m going to this location. | | PorterPounder (219), Tallahassee, Florida | | July 5, 2007 Large warehouse type liqupor store on the edge of downtown. Several dozen local and regional six packs available as soon as you walk in the door and also in the cooler. Aisle full of common but good Belgians, English Ales, German lagers and a few Eastern Europe big bottle singles. Bonus - walk in climate controlled cellar - first time I have ever seen one of these. Has a few dozen bombers and 750 mls in here. Only complaint about the store - no micro singles. Overall, a very decent selection for a state just coming into the high gravity beer world. Will visit again as my work will bring me to Columbia often. |
