| 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | May 22, 2012 impressive assortment of hand pumps and taps featuring British, German and Czech along with some Danish products. cozy and warm atmosphere in a small, friendly setting. prices high as expected. this one was worth coming back again to try more. | | MonMadsen (65), , Denmark | | May 21, 2012 Visited July 9th. Superb selection of casks. 6 taps with cask. Nice decor with a coastered ceiling, wooden tables, benches and chairs. A must visit if you’re in to cask beer. | | Rasmus40 (62), Beder, Aarhus, Denmark | | April 25, 2012 Small cosy place with a polite service. They have a good selection of Danish/Irish/German/Belgian tap beers though they rarely change. The real reason to go here is their British cask ales, which change frequently. Prices are very fair. | | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | March 30, 2012 Four or five steps down from the pavement takes you into what looks like an old English pub.
Crammed full of beery stuff and six different cask conditioned British Ales to choose from. There was also a selection of Danish beers on tap, which I had (I can get cask ales any old day at home).
It was the Saturday evening during the 1st European Beer Festival and the place was heaving with people; we had to wait for a seat. We were soon joined by a bunch of locals who engaged us in conversation on beer and life in general. They were all Real Ale fans.
The barman was British, as were some of the customers.
Good quality beers and good company, what more do you need?
| | Skinnyviking (113), Copenhagen, Denmark | | November 4, 2011 Long bar, few tables, too little place in there as it is quite popular so it is difficult to pass one another. A lot of taps primarily with Brithis everchanging beers. A good deal of them cask beer. The staff is friendly and English speaking although I guess they can speak Danish. The staff has a good knowledge of the beers they serve as well as a general knowledg of beer. As in many British bars the staff does however have a tendency to serve non-regulars in a somewhat arrogant way. Do nlot know if food is served. | | Vignale (18), Malmö, Sweden | | September 12, 2011 [ Updated May 22, 2012 ] En urengelsk pyttepub som man lätt missar. Lite utbud men det gör inget för de har valt ut det bästa av engelsk öl på fat. Dessutom billigt. | | Boudicca (205), London, England | | July 5, 2011 If you’re looking for a traditional British cask ale in Copenhagen, this is the place to go. There are usually quite a few on, although when we visited on 24 May only three of the six listed were available. I think they included Crouch Vale Best Bitter and Batemans Triple XB. We fared better a few days later after the Great Baltic Adventure had passed through on its way to St Petersburg leaving 2P, Thornbridge St Petersburg and St Austell Imperial Russian Stout in its wake.
It’s a small, dark place with a brick floor, the bar crammed into the centre and a bottle glass window through to the cask room at the back. The ceiling above the bar is decorated with pewter mugs; elsewhere there are beer mats and bar towels under perspex, including some of the Shepherd Neame Spitfire ones. I always forget to check whether they have my favourite: “No Fokker comes close”. Too much else to look at - there’s a large blackboard listing the beers and other drinks on offer and the walls are covered with brewery-related pictures, posters, maps and a diagram showing “Charlie’s world famous cask cooling appliance”. There are also English and Danish newspapers in a rack under the Westmalle clock by the door.
The top half of the front window opens fully to create a sort of outdoor bar on the narrow pavement. Inside, seating is at four tables in the front, at the bar and in a crepuscular area at the back. They serve snacks – crisps, pork pies, beer sausages, pickled onions, pickled eggs and nuts. There are also pub games (DKK50 deposit) and free wifi.
Service is usually good and friendly but not consistently so. It seems to depend on who’s in. English is the language of choice and, in addition to some interesting and friendly locals, there always seems to be at least one self-important ex-pat talking loudly and perhaps a group of brash young men, like well-behaved football hooligans, intent on demonstrating their command of four-letter words and competing to see how many times it’s possible to fit them into one short sentence.
(Last visited 30 May 2011).
| | sax (10), California | | June 13, 2011 A really great bar. The cask selection alone is worth the trip to this place. The Fullers imperial stout they had during the beer festival was unreal. | | Pinball (56), Copenhagen, Denmark | | June 9, 2011 this is one awesome bar not to be missed unless you live close to some of the best in uk. 6 cask taps with frequently super rare stuff, 12 taps with this and that. Friendly service, chatty customers, but most importantly, from time to time you’ll find uk cask ales here that are rare even in the uk. Rotation is quick so going back 14 days later will get you more rare ticks. | | abemorsten (73), Randaberg, Norway | | May 30, 2011 Small, crowded place with a great athmpsphere and both cask ale and normal taps, mostly British. Well worth a visit. |
