This is our local. My wife is part of a knitting group that drinks there every week. She probably goes there more than me. Good service, cheap drafts with OK selection. Bottle prices from the shop are pretty good (considering Ireland is just expensive all over for beer). A small, kozy place with mostly locals. Wide selection of German brews.

Of all the beer bars in Cork, this might have been my favorite overall. The barkeep was great, the vibe is really cool, and although the selection is not huge it is good enough. Good branded glassware selection. Stick to local stuff if possible. Although the bottle of Weihenstephaner Vitus we ordered was in great condition the Trappists were in poor condition so it’s worth knowing that, given how expensive they are! Ordered a Westmalle and a Rochefort 8 to finish off the evening and both were woefully stale :( Overall a great watering hole. Just remember, evenings only!

Visited on a quiet Wednesday evening in May, this little find is above the store and you can essentially choose anything from the fridges and try it. We tried some excellent beers, on tap and bottles, and talked to a couple locals (no tourists) who were in for the night. It’s a bit of an odd setting, small room with walls plastered in coasters from all sorts of beers, and yet the wall-lined benches and stools were comfortable and the service was certainly inviting and entertaining. No food. Definitely worth re-visiting in future.

Probably the best beer selection we saw in Ireland. The bartender was fantastic, both as the barman and shopkeeper earlier in the day; friendly, helpful and went out of his way to make us feel welcome and fished out some bottle caps for our collection. Bar is tiny, but feels cozy. Walls are absolutely covered in breweriana. Couple of locals sitting at the bar having some bizarre conversations from what I overheard. Selection was primarily imports, range of Weihenstephaner, and other German and Belgian imports, UK, etc. Surprised to see a good number of US offerings that I have not had yet as well. Anything in the shop can be had upstairs with some notice. Six taps, about half imports and half local. Had a supposedly exclusive house beer on tap from White Gypsy when we were there.

Brilliant, In Ireland the availability of great beer is next to non-existant, but there are a few (very small few) who still endevour to offer a good selection of beer, a small endearing bar with staff who actually drink and love real beer. If you live or are in cork, go.
