| BelgianBeerGal (42), Dayton Area, Ohio | | October 21, 2011 Stopped here on a date night and was admittedly a little nervous about some of the previous ratings but we’ll definitely be going back. The place was pretty full but the waitress was nice and attentive; maybe not a beer geek but helpful. The food we had was nice and the Hungarian influence was something fun to try: Great Pizza. Pretty much a classic mid-western bar with a good beer selection and above average food. | | pittsburghamy (10), | | July 18, 2011 The decor is strange and outdated (carpet??). The food is good, but takes forever (even if the place is dead). The staff is knowledgable but not real friendly. Also, there is a dog there sometimes which doesn’t seem right. | | m0sf3t (12), Kettering, Ohio | | July 17, 2011 This place is pretty cool. The pizza is good there, but the service is strange. I can never figure out if there are servers for the table or not. It confuses me everytime. We usually go to the bar to order things.
They have a bar dog that wanders around which is pretty cool.
Make sure you go in the correct door, it’s around back. NOT the door on the bottom of the building on the side, they will be really rude to you, it’s not the right place. Made that mistake the first time we went there. | | Bukowski9 (14), Piqua, Ohio | | November 10, 2009 Was here in June ’09 for Firkin Fest.Selection was good and service was good as well.Food was OK but I wasn’t there to eat.Working class kind of bar which suits me just fine,Nice place,I’ll be back. | | Bigmmartin (16), Dayton, Ohio | | November 7, 2009 One of the top pubs in the area. Some regular beer tastings and special events. Decent draft selection and a good number of bottles. The food is mostly just pizza. The "most arrogant pub in the world" celebration featuring Stone Brewing was my first time here and it was a blast. | | m00ba77 (10), Santa Fe, New Mexico | | March 27, 2009 It was the best local beer bar in North Dayton. I always had fun there when I lived close. For dayton, this place is pretty much it for a beer bar. | | clingman71 (12), Centerville, Ohio | | June 30, 2008 Boston’s has a reputation as a beer bar in the Dayton area, but that is more a statement of how weak Dayton is more so than Boston’s being good. The rotation of beer is odd and inconsistent to say the least. My last visit I saw Mojo Risin and Maharaja on the board only to find out that both kegs had blown earlier in the day.
OK, i’m an understanding person, these things happen, but, there was no replacement for either with any hops. No IPAs, no IIPAs, ?????? They had Sierra Nevada Pale Ale(ho hum) and Lagunitas Gnarleywine. While the Lagunitas was very good, there was nothing for a hophead, NOTHNG. How do you go from two doubles to nothing. As for the food, the menu is a strange list of Hungarian foods along with pizzas. The pizzas were excellent, but took over an hour on a night that they weren’t very busy. | | notalush (256), Denver, Colorado | | June 6, 2008 This place is basically a blue collar bar that serves decent beer - the two young ladies tending bar were friendly, although they were a little perplexed that on out-of-towner was visiting their bar - they had a handful of common regionals on tap (oberon, something from founders), three philosophers, and the latest avery special release - other than that there was nothing spectacular - they had a flier up for a 6 firkin cask event later in the week, so that was promising - seems like the kind of place that might occasionally get something interesting for the beer hunter, but is mostly focused on keeping standard regionals (judging by the area, I don’t blame them) - not a bad place, but I wasn’t thrilled. | Kevs86ta (1), Ohio does not count - explanation | | January 3, 2008 Great local place. The barkeep had good knowlege on what was on tap. Good selection on tap. Bottled selection was pretty good. My fav. pub to visit every weekend. | | Tmoney99 (331), Cincinnati, Ohio | | December 21, 2007 Directly on Main Street with parking in the back. Clean brick and wood older building with entrance to the bar from the back. The bar is on left and tables on the right and in the front. Good selection on tap. All were drinkable brews. Not so freindly bartender but with good knowledge. Interesting selection of bottle beers that were as good as the taps. Interesting location. |
