90 Great local and regional craft selection with a very knowledgeable owner. Can't wait to return. |
80 Visited in February 2017. Lots of local beers available in cans. Service was good. |
90 Ambiance is a a hipster beer store (as opposed to industrial beer store). I’m talking wooden beer shelves vs metal. Local crafted foods and ice cream and stuff. Pretty cool.
Service was awesome. To me what sets a beer store apart is the ability to chit chat with the people that work there. People that work at a niche market store should love what they do. And the person who was working while I was there was this guy. We chatted about big beer vs craft beer. About what was local and hot. What was regional and hot. Talked about the area. To me, this was critical for an awesome store.
Selection is not huge but they have what you need. I was looking for devil dancer and there it was. For a small-mid sized store the beers they had were excellent.
Food was not really applicable but it’s worth noting they had other snackys and stuff. Like pork rind chips. And ice cream..... mmmmmmmm Ice cream.
Value was standard... which leads me to wonder: if prices are on point does that make it perfect or average or what? I gave it an 8 in case some day I find someone selling Founders limited release for like $15 or something.
Overall a really neat place. It has the makings to be somewhere that the staff will remember you and that’s really cool. I hope it will turn into that. A must if you are local, worth it if you are from out of town (thinking man is right across the street so you have no excuse!) |
80 Visited 03/12/15. Nice, clean bottle shop and growler station with a solid selection. Maybe 300 bottles were available to choose from. Plenty of local stuff was available. I opted for a couple of random BFM ticks and also took home some random stuff from Alabama that I had never seen before. The guy working the counter seemed pretty friendly, though I was happy to shop without assistance. Good prices. Easy parking. A recommended stop. |
88 Visited later evening on a Monday. Easy to find, parking on the street in front or around the corner. I loved the layout and design of this store, the beers are shelved clearly and cleanly, and the draft selection was unique, with many local options. Due to local regulations, you can do a four beer taster, or growler fills; no pints at this point. The service was phenomenal, had a great conversation with owner of the place and felt perfectly at home here. The only two small quibbles I have with the store is the relatively small single selection, and the limited refrigeration. Overall, if I lived in Atlanta, this would most certainly be my store. 88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
84 Small bottle shop in a small strip mall. Selection was decent. Pricing was on par with everyone else. Service is where this place shined. Eddie was great to shoot the shit with and knew his stuff. He pointed us to a couple other places that I didn’t know were right up the street. |
82 A little shop dedicated to craft beer. Nothing especially exciting, but great service and an obvious dedication to the industry. Prices are a bit high, but there are deals on growlers. I loved supporting this place. |
70 Great place, full of knowledgeable beer nerds, good selection, small place with a good vibe |
86 Nice little store, not the biggest but plenty to choose from, the guy let us taste a couple of beers from the growler station, he was a knowledgeable guy as well. |
96 A great little store. A really good selection of Craft Beer. Every time I’m in Decatur I stop by. |
