July 14, 2009 A companion to the Brick Store Pub with a larger focus on cuisine as opposed to beer. Though, the beer selection is still quite nice, with a small selection 750ml bottles pouring by the glass, including St. Fueillien’s Brune, Malheur Brut, and Etienne Dupont Cidre Bouché on this particular visit. The draft lineup doesn’t seem to change all that often and seems to have been chosen on the basis of how well these beers pair with food. However, there is a well-sized selection of bottled beers to choose from that presents a little bit of everything: Saison Foret, Troll Shangrila, Péché Mortel, and even Bøgedal #101.
The atmosphere is lively and engaging with a rather pleasant-looking décor, though it presents a vastly different vibe than the BSP.
The menu presents a nice range of tasty treats at reasonable prices. Me, I made the bad, though delicious decision to go for the Pub Frites (with Goat Cheese Fondue and Peppercorn Gravy dipping sauces). Delicious because, well, it is, and bad, because it’s hard not to fill up on it. For further munchings, I opted for the rich, hedonistic cheese plate.
The service on this visit was an absolute delight thanks to Sara Without an ’H’. Fast and efficient while also friendly and informative.
I wholly recommend it as a great place to stop in and have a marvelous meal with a few fine beers while in Decatur. Though, for me, I’m not sure I’ll be able to simply bypass the good ole Brick Store Pub... |
February 10, 2009 From the same folks that brought us The Brick Store Pub. Take great Karma from people who know and love beer, add a funky cool environment along with an incredibly knowledgeable staff and unique fun/tasty food and you got an amazing beer bar. Every beer served in the proper glass at proper the temperature. This place will do very well for all the right reasons. |
