hbeast33 (2), Galena, Ohio does not count - explanation | | May 3, 2012 Cool looking mellow place to have drinks and talk to friends in a normal tone. They just added 24 taps bringing the total to over 48. They tend to be IPA/Stout/big beer heavy with a couple of Lagers, Pilsners, Belgians available. Food is always excellent, by far the best in town, and on par with anything you will find in Central Ohio. Service is sometimes slow, but better than most places in Delaware. One of the places in Delaware making this a beer traveler destination town. | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | September 9, 2011 (Visited 02/2011 and a couple times since): 1808 (honoring the year Delaware, OH was founded) is located in downtown Delaware across from the history Strand Theatre on Winter off Sandusky. They have a decent size lot behind the restaurant but they are always busy so spots may be difficult to find.
The entrance opens to the bar area, with high table seating and a bar along the left wall. Through a door on the right is the restaurant seating area, which is open and does a good job balancing a modern feel with an older building complete with uneven, creaky floors.
1808’s beer selection is solid. The 25+ draught menu changes monthly and always includes local options like Columbus Brewing, Neil House etc. Other craft brewers are represented like Victory, Stone, Bell’s, DFH, Founders, and Southern Tier. A couple of imports like Hoegaarden and Wittekerke are available too.
Service has been consistently good on my visits. We have never sat at the bar so my beer knowledge expectations were not as high, but the servers have done a good job speaking to the available beers and styles.
Food at 1808 has been very good. We went the first time for Valentine’s Day and their special menu and cocktails were awesome. I am also a big fan of their fried chicken.
Overall this place is highly recommended for Central Ohio beer lovers. |
