QueSeraSera (1), , Netherlands does not count - explanation | | February 22, 2012 One of my favourite spots. Always some beer surprises, like Flying Dog’s K-9. Decent Dutch and Belgian beers beers. | | dutchbeerpages (36), Wilnis, Netherlands | | January 24, 2012 Any bar that has a special De Molen listing on the wall gets extra points. Only 7 tables and a bar, great selection including some special Dutch ones like Eem, De Molen, Jopen and Emelisse. Nice location too, definitely a bar U will return too. | | baxterfish (125), , England | | September 28, 2011 Excellent cafe in a lovely location on the canal. Intelligent beer menu with lots of rare stuff at reasonable prices. The trapistenlokaal Klooster on the other side of the canal is even better.
Highly recommended. | | Boudicca (205), London, England | | April 25, 2011 We visited Delft on a sunny April day (2 April) on a trip out from Amsterdam (about a hour away by train) to meet John, who had kindly dedicated the whole day and evening to show us around his lovely home town. We stopped at the Biercafe Doerak between visiting the Old Church (dating from 1246) and the New Church (well, newer - it’s less than two centuries younger) and it was the perfect place to while away an hour or so sitting by the canal and watching the world go by.
There are a few tables right alongside the canal and more across the pavement under a canopy outside the café. Inside, I had an impression of dark wood floors and furniture but it was too nice a day to linger inside for long. We were served at our table by the friendly owner. There was probably a good range of beers but for me there was only one choice – a refreshing, hoppy De Molen on draught.
| | deanso (103), the Hague, Netherlands | | August 22, 2010 My local in Delft. I cycle from the Hague to Delft and here is where I always top for refreshment :-)
Good beer knowledge here. Friendly staff & locals. Decent selection of interesting beers including quite a lot of Dutch beers.
They have tables outside and it’s next to a canal very close to the main square. | | Martinus (70), Nijmegen, Netherlands | | January 24, 2009 Definately my favourite pub in Delft. The landlady knows her beers, and made quite an impressive list of her beer menu and changing specials on tap.
She goes out of her way to obtain beers from small and obscure breweries throughout Netherlands and Belgium.
If you are lucky, there is the chance she still has some Westvleteren 12 around, as she only serves a few each day.
Since smoking is prohibited in all Dutch pubs, it is less smoky but there is a heat lamp on the terras for smokers. | Freising (4), Delft, Netherlands does not count - explanation | | May 15, 2008 Nice brown cafe in city centre. Good selection of beer, and the staff knows about them. Cosy and friendly atmosphere, my favorite place in Delft. The beer on the tap is changing weekly, the place is therefore always worth an extra visit. | jeroen (2), does not count - explanation | | November 7, 2007 had my first westvleteren here for only 6,90.
The girls behind the bar know their beers!
I’ll be back soon! | | Rastacouere (581), Montréal, Quebec | | September 10, 2007 A nice canalside pub with a few tables to make a terrace. Very nice, dark wooden interior with lots of Westy crates. Friendly waitress (landlady?), smiling and welcoming. Solid selection with nothing to really set it apart from the other Delft’s excellent Cafe, but the tap list should be different, so you may want to come by. | | kepano (24), Meudon, France | | September 4, 2007 Very close to the excellent Trappistenlokaal ’t Klooster, Doerak is adorned with stacked crates of Westvleteren. The interior is spacious making it easier to find a spot that isn’t too smoky. The selection is excellent, featuring a wider choice of Dutch brews than its neighbor and including the ’t IJ Struis that I craved. The cheese toasti was mediocre but an acceptable cure for a hungry stomach on the cheap. The service was pleasant, and again I was delighted to find the prices far more reasonable than any place I’ve encountered in Paris. |
