| deanso (103), the Hague, Netherlands | | April 19, 2012 Good atmosphere. The selection of tap beers and bottled beers is good but there are no surprises. Wifi is spotty and barely works | | MrHangover (22), Den Haag, Netherlands | | May 19, 2011 I’m not a huge fan of Rootz. It claims to be the Belgian of The Hague with around 70 beers. The selection is ok, with good variation, but the staff lacks skill and knowledge. I ordered a Westmalle Dubbel from draft and my glass was sticky outside (not rinsed well), my beer had no head left (took to long to serve) and it was a small serving size (0,25 liter) for 4,50 euro. Second time I went there I ordered a Triple Karmeliet, also on draft. The glass was again sticky and there was litterally no head on the beer. And that’s one of the most important features of the TK. Also, the service is slow and not alert at all. | | Nuffield (85), Roseville, Minnesota | | June 4, 2010 I thought this was pretty good, but it was only my first day in The Hague. Upscale restaurant with a great ambiance in the basement restaurant and a decent patio on an unfortunate street (too busy). Very good selection (76 beers at present) but not adventurous, except that an American will find at least a few that are unavailable in the U.S., esp. from the Belgian list. Good food. | | dEnk (24), Den Haag, Netherlands | | January 31, 2010 [ Updated March 6, 2012 ] Ambiance really depends on the crowd of the day, which variates from rowdy businessman and moms with children to hip youngsters and groups of students.
Good place to drink one of your favourite (widely available) Belgian beers and get on with your business. | | jerohen (19), Bussum, Netherlands | | March 1, 2009 The usual Belgian beers here, no rares but still enough pleasant brews. The place looks nice from the outside and inside, especially the cupboard containing all the old bottles. The food is pretty good (beer and wine pairings are suggested), staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Good place. | | NoiZe (71), Amersfoort, Netherlands | | January 20, 2009 A lot of belgian brews. No surprises and too expensive. | climberbob (6), Virginia does not count - explanation | | June 24, 2007 Good Belgian beer cafe/restaurant in down town Den Haag in a nice old building. Menu suggests beer pairings with the food. The mustard soup is good. Can get crowded and smokey on the inside. |
