Not sure why this is refered to as brewery. The actual abbey has not been producing beers for years. Welcome center that is a lot smaller than used to be, when the welcome center was closer to the abbey, and they had their famous waffles. Service usually consists of students working there. They have some food, their signature cheese and ham "tartines" and the Maredsous beers on tap, plus Bel Pils. Not the nicest place for beer geeks, but def. worth going for the amazing setting and quiet surroundings. My father was born in the nearby village, our grandparents tended to the horses of the sisters abbey up the road. It is a nice walking area, that can take you to the beautiful and scenic village of Maredret. The old rail tracks are now a nice trail that take you back to Maredsous. So yes, not a beer geek place, but go there for the beautiful area, often ignored by tourists who spend their time in the Northern parts of Belgium and the capital..

The 3 beers are available on tap also on bottles at the St. Joseph welcome center, oa tourist trap. Self service. They sell their beers and cheeses. Good in summer @ the terras.

Beautiful abbey from the outside, too bad you can’t visit the interior. Beers are available at the St. Joseph welcome center, which is more of a tourist trap. Here they also sell their beers and cheeses. At 1 km walk, there is also the Abbaye de Mardret, which is habited by nuns, and they don’t make beer, but they make lemonade :).
