cyclonematty (9), Iowa does not count - explanation | | February 26, 2011 Went to a friend’s party in Sherman Hills area so stopped by this place. Not a bad little store but selection isn’t as great as I have seen. Could have better service as well. | | heemer77 (205), Urbandale, Iowa | | October 23, 2010 I saw a couple of things not available at Hy Vee on University. The prices here seemed a little high and it is obvious that wine, not beer is emphasis. I guess it would be worth stopping in now and again just to see what unique brew that they might get in. The people I talked to on staff were nice, but didn’t seem particularly knowledgeable about beer. | | ketchepillar (18), Albuquerque, New Mexico | | November 16, 2009 The beer selection is a little bit smaller than University Hy-vee’s, but they have most of the same good stuff. Sometimes they have a few bottles Hyvee doesn’t. Sometimes it’s the other way around. A little more expensive than Hyvee as well. | iamqueensblvd (3), , Iowa does not count - explanation | | July 4, 2009 A little bit of a white trash feel to it, enormous wine selection, but a very decent selection of beer. Foreign and domestic, micro and macro, single bottles and multi packs. Only real problem is that they are just a touch expensive. | | CanIHave4Beers (69), Des Moines, Iowa | | June 15, 2009 You can buy good beer here, that being said it’s mainly just the Iowa basics. This place is better for the beer lover than the west side location, but not much. Now and again they get something in that no one else in Des Moines has, so it’s worth peeking in from time to time. The staff always looks confused when I walk out empty handed though. The service is usually fairly good, but not great, they’re awesome if you’re buying wine. |
