| EdKing (69), London, England | | February 4, 2012 Visited here in October and forgot to leave a rating. Getting to this place is not easy. It is quite literally in the middle of nowhere but in a very beautiful part of the country, surrounded by fields. Also be aware that sat navs do not work to get here and will take you somewhere about 2 miles away. The brewery is kind of on a farm. You arrive and winder if it is really there as it’s in a small building which is part of the farm. Inside is a warm welcome from Alan, the brewer. There’s a shop front with all the beers and behind that is all the brewing equipment. He’ll also oblige you with a taster. Great little place and makes the beer even more special when you have to hunt it down out here. There’s also a pub at the end of the road that serves cask versions! | | tdtm82 (61), , England | | April 17, 2010 Excellent micro brewery where you can buy King Henry’s Special Reserve amongst other Old Chimneys’ treats.
Was greated by a very warm and friendly brewer upon arrival whom instantly asked if I wanted a taster. I said yes and a full glass was thrusted upon my very hands in very quick time.
The show is a one man team. The hours are limited (please check before you leave) and it’s out of the way but it is really worth making the effort to get to. A scenic brewery in a typical East Anglian farmyard.
The shop value is excellent. KHSR is £3.70 of time of writing and a lot of bitters and other ales are very reasonably priced. You get a 10% case discount which is only 12 bottles.
You can buy as many as you want. There are bottles on display but the brewer keeps most of the botles inside a nice cool cupboard so conditioning is ideal. Lovely place; friendly staff and a must visit. Of note there are no other bottles other than Old Chimnays. There is brewery cider and oilve oil is also available too. |
