| Mathieu87 (59), Ganshoren, Belgium | | March 6, 2012 Nice place to have dinner. Good burgers that go with good beers. Selection is ok. | ACD (4), Dublin, Ireland does not count - explanation | | March 2, 2012 A real champion of Irish craft brewing with a permanent base of ten or so taps, alongside 6 rotation taps, and one cask pump.
Downstairs is a cosy restaurant with good quality locally sourced food (meat comes from the renowned butcher, FX Buckley), upstairs is a Bavarian-style beer hall with benches and long oak tables - always a good atmosphere.
Staff is, on the whole, fairly abrupt but on their good days they're a laugh. Service is always quick regardless.
As I said, the emphasis is on Irish craft beer, but there ate normally 2 or 3 offerings from elsewhere (often a sierra Nevada, and at the moment they've pauwel kwak on) so there's a decent choice.
Good atmosphere on rugby match days in particular. | | suprchunk (60), Heinsberg, Germany | | October 28, 2011 Good food, good beer, good service. The value and selection were typical. The food was decently good. I enjoyed our time here. Just wish they had more selection. | | kschep (44), , Denmark | | August 15, 2011 great service, fine selection both by draught and bottle, great crowd. the bier halle upstairs only adds to an already great atmosphere. for tasting and for drinking, this is my top spot in dublin - so far | thelynchfella (4), Dublin, Ireland does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2011 1 of my favourite pubs in the world, without doubt my favourite in Ireland. People tend to talk about The Porterhouse and how great their selection of beer is, but I find myself more impressed with the selection here. This bar and it’s bar management are big advocates of Irish craft beer and tends to stock most, if not all craft beer brewed in Ireland. The food too is really good, and the staff are both knowedgeable and friendly, which is a rarity these days in Dublin. The beerhall upstairs is one of my favourite places in Dublin. Looking forward to my trip home to Dublin soon, it’ll be the 1st pub i’ll go to! | | sebletitje (200), Enghien, Belgium | | April 7, 2011 By far my favorite ’craft beer’ spot in Dublin, if there is even such a thing as an active beer scene. Nice location on the outskirts of Temple Bar in front of ChristChurch.
Great draft selection of many Irish and Northern Ireland craft beers all reasonably priced but still pricey for the quality that you are getting.
Very nice and clean inside with either low-key atmosphere or more active during the football game.
We got an excellent service from Dave who suggested many beers and even offered samples.
Food had the Irish influence with many American undertones as well.
Cajun burger was nice as were the ribs, though a little undercooked.
Everything is reasonably priced considering it is Dublin and that place being about the few places in Dublin actively supporting Irish craft beers. | | Beershine (540), The Sunshine State, Florida | | March 8, 2011 Most likely the best beer selection in Dublin, as far as scope, variety, freshness, and quality of Irish microbrews is concerned. Split-level, with restaurant on bottom and pub on top. Pub usually feels strangely empty even when there are people inside because the place is so big and it lacks intimacy. There are several long wooden tables so would be a great place for a group party. Crowd is mixed but mostly young, not a lot of crusty old-timers here. | | Velkyal (62), Charlottesville, Virginia | | September 8, 2010 It was a bit quiet when we were there, just after opening time, but it felt like a good place to have a pint and the beers on tap were mostly Irish craft brews. Good food, reasonable prices, definitely a place I would visit again when next I go to Ireland. | | dnstone (37), Alamogordo, New Mexico | | April 17, 2010 Best beer bar in Dublin. Great if your sick of guinness and killkenny. Not a bad atmosphere, descent young local professional crowd. Worth a stop. | | Mandrake (14), Chester, Nova Scotia | | February 5, 2010 Was there on a Saturday night, and the place was jammed and a bit too much like a disco for my liking. Music obnoxiously loud. Great selection, both on tap and in bottles, from all over the world. Staff were efficient, given the crowds. I’d like to go back at a better time and sample some more, but it’s a decent place to stop in. |
