| Prometheus (18), Fayetteville, North Carolina | | October 18, 2009 Looks like a crappy convenience store from the outside. You would never even think of going in unless you knew otherwise.
Tons of beer selection here. I spent a good 45 minutes looking through everything.
Very nice selection of different beers around the world.
Really appreciate them letting me break some six-packs so I could try some new beers.
Would definitely recommend. Best beer store in NC. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | May 21, 2009 This place is the definition of a " diamond in the rough". I can’t think of any other store that allows you to peruse a massive selection of good beers and let’s you fill up your gas tank! This place is a must if you ever pass through north carolina. But be prepared to spend at least an hour looking around at all the shit you want but know you can’t afford. | | craftbeerdesign (16), Alpharetta, Georgia | | April 12, 2009 stopped into Sam’s on a trip to Raleigh... Sam’s is not your normal beer store - it is essentially a gas station / convenient store with a boat load of awesome beer.... coming from GA, I was thrilled to be greeted with Founders, Thirsty Dog, Moylans, Bells, Ballast Point, Hoppin Frog and rarities such as Black Albert, Pannepot and more. The selection is top notch... the employees seem to know there stuff and the overall pricing was average. They do allow you to break six packs, which was great since I can’t get Founders at home.... highly recommended indeed.... just go in willing to drop some $$. | | zizzybalubba (33), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | April 5, 2009 Another one of those places that the first time you see it you can’t believe it is so highly rated. Best selection in the Triangle and the best prices too. It has been helped by the recent influx of phenominal beers available in North Carolina (Stone, Founders, Hoppin’ Frog, Jolly Pumpkin). Worth going out of your way to make it to this store. | chandler0201 (3), Durham, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | January 20, 2009 Best selection of any place in the Triangle in my opinion. Looks like a dive bar/inner city convenience store from the front, but what is inside will pleasantly surprise you. Great selection of beers, and even some wine too. Best selection of glassware I have seen anywhere. Discounts on seasonal brews to clear stock rivals that of Total Wine. Will be going back more often. | | JCB (35), Durham, North Carolina | | January 3, 2009 Surprised that I had not yet rated my local, which is happily also *the* place to buy beer in the Triangle. As every other review says, it does not look the part. But who cares, since whats important is the superb selection inside. Every craft brew available in NC is available in Sams, with the exception of some local only stuff from Asheville (and hell, you do even see a stray bottle of Pisgah here from time to time). The list would simply be too long. Suffice it to say that they have all the locals and regionals, all the top shelf domestics, and TONS of European stuff, including fine Germans, hardcore Scandinavian (Mikkeller, Nogne, etc.), and a really vast Belgian selection. Wine and cigars if that floats your boat, glassware for everyone, and what looks to be a modest selection of jerky. The prices are good, comparable with other locals, but it is all here, faster and in greater quantity than anywhere else. Plus, the service rocks hard. Where else can you get guys discussing the merits of | | brewski519 (11), Morrisville, North Carolina | | January 2, 2009 Looks like a dive from outside - from inside you feel like you have died and gone to beer heaven. Great selection - everytime I go in there are plenty of new selections and plenty of great deals. Service is great also - always someone asking if they can assist. If you ask they will help - if you tell them you are all set they will not bother you. Prices are not bad either - very much in line with competition.. not that there really is any in the area. | | CelticBrew (14), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina | | October 5, 2008 Stopped in with Doboy and DrBayern before heading over to the WBF in Durham. My first time there, stunning level of varieties. Tons of belgians, not to mention american micros and other types of beers. Prices very reasonable and the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. Dont be fooled by the outside of this place, truly a gem here in NC for good beers. | | DMRz (10), Durham, North Carolina | | September 27, 2008 I have been going to Sam’s for around 3 years and am a big fan. They have the best selection of beer in the Triangle at very competitive prices. Sam’s also periodically has some clearance deals that are amazing! Their selection of glassware is among the best I have seen anywhere. Always worth a stop! | doboy (8), Morehead City, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | September 25, 2008 [ Updated May 18, 2009 ] Nothing fancy on the outside, but DAMN!!!!!!!! On the inside I was finding stuff I had only heard of! Atmosphere was noting special, but the guys knew their beer and were helpful but not pushy. Selection was out of this world! Worth finding if you go thru Durham! | View Page: 1 2 3 4 5
