| ryanfolty (104), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | March 3, 2012 Dropped the kids off at the pool (literally not figuratively) and was close by so stopped in today. Easy to get to, in between Cedar and 35E, but not much to look at from the outside. Inside is a typical beer store with the beer in the back. Lots to choose from and a decent selection. Prices seemed reasonable, maybe a tad higher than the lower priced stores around town. The singles section was rather pathetic though for a place with as much as they had. Service was pretty good, the guy asked a couple times if he could help and talked beers a bit. Check it out if you are in MilkmanDan’s neck of the woods. | | OSLO (119), Ames, Iowa | | November 23, 2011 Located in a strip mall, this isn’t much to look at. Inside, the staff seemed busy with stocking shelves and didn’t talk with me, which is fine. The selection is very solid, but the singles selection is badly lacking compared to what used to be found at the old Lex/Larp location. Prices are reasonable. Overall, definitely worth a stop, but they could be so much better with more singles. | | PorterPounder (219), Tallahassee, Florida | | August 15, 2009 Visited here in August 2009. Only in the area for about three days so was seeking out quality instead of quantity and I found what I was looking for. Two areas full of Midwestern micros from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. - plenty of singles and all marked well with the price (no surprises at checkout). Lots of Ratebeer shelftalkers. Prices were very reasonable - Bell’s for $1.89 - you gotta love that! Had at least two hundred different bottled selections and the staff was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. If you are in the twin cities and need to pick up a good sample of the local offerings - this is the place to go. | rdyck (2), Eagan, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | March 20, 2009 [ Updated March 27, 2009 ] Very good selection, good service. helpful and knowledgeable staff. I hop between this store and Blue Max. Cellar’s is more convenient for me and the staff more helpful. Blue Max does have a better selection and slightly better prices. | | MilkmanDan (20), Eagan, Minnesota | | May 20, 2008 Shop here quite regularly, second-best beer store in the southern suburbs after Blue Max. Nice selection, mostly of U.S. micros, loads of Bell’s, Surly, Great Divide, Southern Tier, and a wide variety of other things. OK selection of international stuff, but not going to find uniquely rare stuff here. Still, there’s a lot of foreign stuff as well. Staff is friendly and helpful, a very good stop. | andrewtroth (3), Eagan, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | February 20, 2007 My favorite stop for beer or wine. Huge selection and a very friendly and helpful staff. | | footbalm (61), Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota | | December 31, 2006 Strange that this place has a different selection than the Blue Max but since the Max is across the river.... what?
Lots of singles,Belgians, domestic micros and other Euro brews. Big open floorplan and well lit. Staff usually doesn’t know shit about beer. | | JK (163), Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota | | September 29, 2005 [ Updated October 16, 2005 ] Not as impressive as some of the other locations, with a smaller selection than Minnetonka and nothing on sale in the beer area. If you can’t make the few extra miles to Blue Max, you will be able to find some good things here. Service was friendly. The selection included a few rare beers, and it is far better than the average liquor store. |
