| cgarvieuk (96), Edinburgh , Scotland | | April 27, 2012 Decent bottle shop in Edinburgh, great owner, very helpful and friendly, little pricier than some, but well located for train station (haymarket) and usually a few new ones for me | onkelgobber (8), Edinburgh, does not count - explanation | | February 12, 2012 A small shop near Haymarket in Edinburgh. Owner Ash is always up for a discussion of beers and gives good recommendations, especially on Scottish Beer. Very nice selection of Scottish Craft Beer and a good deal from around the world, especially the US. Less fun when Ash is not there. Has a good selection of Wines as well. Does tastings several times a month with visiting experts. Prices are in the high end, but that comes with the wide selection. | tacticalbailey (2), , England does not count - explanation | | January 17, 2012 Great shop with some great beers. Owner was brilliant in recommending and just to generally talk about beer. Brilliant place, Highly recomend a visit | | mark1969 (21), edinburgh, Scotland | | January 16, 2012 [ Updated January 23, 2012 ] Brilliant beer and wine shop . The owner has a real passion for good beer . | Tenacious_Doug (3), Edinburgh, Scotland does not count - explanation | | January 9, 2012 My local shop, and a great one. Great selection of mainly Scottish, American and Belgian beers with more appearing every time I go in. Would love to see some more English beers making an appearance, the likes of Thornbridge and Kernel are near impossible to get up here, I’ll keep asking and hoping!
Very friendly too, always up for a chat. | | MalcolmTucker (14), , Scotland | | December 16, 2011 Small shop in the west end of Edinburgh that has an extensive selection of beers from Scotland and Belgium plus a few varieties from elsewhere. This was my first visit to the shop and I was impressed with the selection and the friendliness of the staff. | BenH (3), Edinburgh, Scotland does not count - explanation | | December 10, 2011 A well stocked shop with some of the finest Scottish ales around. Also stocks a very good and extensive range of Belgian beers as well as other beers from around the globe. Ash, who runs the store, is very knowledgable and passionate about beer, particularly Belgian varieties. He is always happy to talk at length about the beers he sells and beer in general. My only gripe is that the shop is on the wrong side of town for me | | brownyonder (22), Edinburgh, Scotland | | July 30, 2011 Always like going in when it’s quiet - Sunday afternoons are good - as Ash is always prepared to have a chat. | brianlavelle (6), Edinburgh, Scotland does not count - explanation | | May 29, 2011 A great shop with a more-than-decent range of unusual beers, not commonly found elsewhere in Edinburgh. The proprietor, Ashton, is very friendly, knowledgeable and keen to help. A very pleasant place to browse and pick up a few new friends! Also does frequent tastings - wine, beer and whisky. | BeerCast_Rich (8), Edinburgh, Scotland does not count - explanation | | May 20, 2011 There’s definitely an East-West split in Edinburgh when it comes to bottle shops. Over East there’s Cornelius, at Haymarket Appellation Wines. Run by the extremely enthusiastic Ashton, Appellation stocks maybe 100 beers – a good range of Scottish, American craft beer, and German labels. Gets the occasional rarer item in but due to space constraints the range doesn’t very as much as Cornelius maybe. But the tastings held there and the helpful advice put it over the edge (plus it’s closer to my flat). A bottle shop that stocks every beer by Fyne Ales and Highland can’t be doing much wrong. Great range of wines too, if that’s your thing. Can be a little pricey though - but you certainly get what you pay for. |
