| JohnRMurdoch (208), Glasgow, Scotland | | May 7, 2011 Traditional bar with reasonable sized beer garden. Decent selection of interesting ales. Yuppy clientele. Not far from other good beer bars. Well worth including on any Edinburgh pub crawl. | | Oakes (593), Gibsons, British Columbia | | October 13, 2010 Cumberland is a good-sized place, open late, with a large tap list. The vibe is okay - a bit upscale sort of thing. But I like it. Good source of Sassenach beers. | | Beershine (540), The Sunshine State, Florida | | September 17, 2010 Yeah, nice vibe here and has some cool nooks and crannies to sit in, which is awesome when it gets crowded. Comfortable. Beer selection varies enough to warrant return visits. | | jvhemert (11), Edinburgh, Scotland | | November 15, 2009 Authenitic Edinburgh pub, just out of the way of most tourists. Great service and a regular change of casks always leads to an interesting tasting session. Beer garden included, but can be crowded if/when weather is nice. | | Rune (234), Tromsø, Norway | | December 1, 2008 Street corner pub located in the new town of Edinburgh. Very busy and crowded early on a Friday eve. Divided into many rooms. Eight operative hand pumps and the usually fizzy stuff. Good range of Scottish malt whisky (visit 24/10). | | Rastacouere (581), Montréal, Quebec | | September 2, 2007 I stayed about 30 seconds from this pub when in Edinburgh, so I of course at to stop by and spent a pretty good night here. The multi-roomed, large pub served a large quantity of guests which seemed to be mostly locals. Lots of scottish accent thingy going on here! The selection was not as solid as I expected, 4 Caledonian and 3 Youngs of all things on top of one Dark Isle. Still, I had a good time and the beer was in good condition. About 10-15 minute away from the very center, so you may not want to bother with the walk, but in this area, this pub would be tough to beat. | | highlandlad (40), Blue Mountains, Australia | | May 30, 2006 One of my favourite Edinburgh pubs. It has eight beer taps - Deuchars IPA, Caley 80/, Timothy Taylor Landlord and a Caledonian "beer of the month", plus four changing guest beers, usually including one or two English. The beers are well-kept and served at the right temperature. There’s also an extensive list of whiskys. The modest beer garden is a grand spot to sup a few and while away an afternoon. It’s not too far from the centre of town and well worth the walk. |
