Visited July 2023. Poor selection from macro breweries (Greene King, Innis & Gunn, Belhaven...) with just a couple of micro (William Brothers and Black Sheep). Will not come back. Next one please!

Typical British pub with Belhaven beers on cask/tap, some international lagers and local real ales, as well

15 taps but only around 6 of them with decent beers on. Two casks from Born in the Borders. A good selection of spirits as well. Super friendly and knowledgeable service

A proper pub rather than a bar. It’s part of the Taylor Walker chain and quite typical of their sort of place, with the usual beer selection. We visited at a busy time on a Friday evening and there was nowhere to sit so I didn’t take many notes. (Visited 3 February 2017).

Not far from the touristy hell of Greyfrars Bobby, trad cask ale house, OK for a couple if in the area.

Can often get some good cask beer here. Tends to be busy with it being near the uni.

Comfortable street corner pub with a decent range of different cask ales. Serves well-made traditional pub food. Friendly service, including tasters of the ales. Charming, a bit worn out, though. Located in the University area nearby the Meadow Park (visited, 30.11.2010).

I am surprised this one has not yet made it on to the Ratebeer website yet. It has 8 really well cared for Scottish cask ales and is in a good location. Service satisfactory, only downside is that it is quite expensive. Has recently been refurbished. Multiscreen TVs showing live sports. Decent food.
