Cool place, I didnít see much of their own beer on tap, but oh well. Had lots from Thornbridge... actually just ended up drinking English beer rather than Scottish. Nice couches and half-floor arrangement -- reminded me a bit of some places I visited in Berlin only a bit less unique (Berlin is hard to beat for cool factor).

(Visited Saturday 20/02/2016 late afternoon) This was probably my favourite venue overall in Edinburgh. There was a Cloudwater takeover during our visit and needed all of these plus some others, so was glad to hear they do thirds. They had a good system where rather than an actual flight, they gave us bottle tops which we purchased so we could then go up and exchange each time you wanted your next beer, there was also a different coloured bottle top you could give back at the end to take home a souvenir glass which I did. Overall the selection here was excellent, ambience wise it was quite busy even though it was a Saturday afternoon, but still relaxed and found some seating in the lower seated area which was cosy. Wish we had more time to spend here and will definitely revisit. A must visit in Edinbrugh.

Well ive given this place time to settle to get a better feel for it. So here goes. The hanging bat has a lot to recomend it, 14 Keg lines and 6 Cask lines as well as a considerable bottle selection. But its not not all about the numbers its the care taken in the selection. With the likes of Kernel, magic Rock and Harbour, on regularly as part of the rotating guest list, and the likes of Hawkshead , Moor and Luckie forming part of there Permanent theres a Garentee of Interesting beers and Its not uncommon to find 4-5 beers above 6% on at any one time. But this place has more to offer than just beer. The layout and Decor make this a very comfortable bar, some where you can easily pop into for a 10 minute quicky or spend several hour being slowly seduced by its delights. Food is well done and well priced, offering filling and snacky alternatives. With Regular meet the brewer events its possible to see 10-20 brews from one of the more intersting UK breweries on at the same time. But for me the one thing that puts the Icing on the Cake is that it Allows Children. While Edinburgh has many great pubs sadly too many of them are not child friendly, so to find a Bar this good that we can go out as a family to is a delight.

SO were into a new Year and this place is going strong, its amazing the beer you can find in here on a Random monday night like last night. Which Just makes it such a great place to have a drink on the way home, but its also nice to sit on a quietish weekend afternoon playing a game with the kids while having a couple of beers, but the Thing that really lift this place to Truely stunning is the Beer events about once a month a brewer will appear and the Bar will showcase their beer, often taking up all 20(21) lines

I can see why this bar is so popular. The first thing that hits me is the delicious smell of the spicy food... then my eyes are drawn to the beer menu and I quickly realise which hunger I wish to satiate. 5 cask and 13 keg on my visit, all well-chosen and reasonably priced. The focus is, quite rightly, on Scottish craft breweries, with the likes of Pilot, Almasty and the house brewery featuring. They make excellent use of space, although I feel that on a Saturday night this place should be more crowded than it is. Special mention must be given to the awesome gentsí loos.

This has officially taken over as my favorite beer hang out in Edinburgh, brilliant selection and price level. Itís also a pretty nice place to just sit, the people watching from the window seats is especially interesting. Good service. Stay away from the chicken wings, they didnít work out at all, watery bbq sauce isnít something Iíd pay for.

Great decoration and ambiance. Feels bit upscale sort of bar. Really nice selection of cask and keg beers. Thereís always something interesting on. Service is quite good. Food was good as well. Prices bit on the high side considering they are serving 2/3 pint. This one is a must when in Edinburgh.

Very nice and cosy place. Probably on average good selection - when I was there there was a hangover of a recent 6DN tap takeover with mainly the crappy beers remaining.

Wearing in but not wearing out. Still a top UK beer destination. Cool design, well-motivated, enthusiastic staff, offended if you moan about any of the brews, but in a positive, brood-protecting kind of way. Using 2/3 pint glasses called schooners - so translated into British the beer is 50% higher than in the perpint system. Tries very hard to get an entertaining range and succeeds at most levels. Food is craft beer fast.
