Traditional Scottish bar with 5 Scottish real ales on tap. Satisfactory service. OK place & worth a visit if you are in the vicinity but not a place to go out of your way for. | scotty (5), , Scotland

This has gone WAY downhill, it used to be one of the places to visit on a Edinburgh crawl, both for atmosphere and quality beer. It now has neither, a depressing vault of a bar, dark and unpleasant. The beer was hazy and while it wasn’t off I actually left it. The pub has 2 entrances, a basement entrance on Hanover Street and a regular entrance at Rose Street, which is far more easy to find. Several beers are on tap at the two levels, so i had to move along the pub to taste some. Food was decent pub food, not the greatest selection, but well made. |
