Vertical Bacon Strips (3), Asshat, Alberta does not count - explanation | | February 12, 2012 K, I dig this place. First and foremost it is a pool hall. That is why I go there - there aren’t many in the city anymore. The tables are solid and not crammed together. Secondly is the beer selection. Honestly I cannot tell you what is on tap as I always go to the bottles and that says something about the tap selection for a beer nerd. THe bottle selection is very good for Edmonton - one of the better ones. The beer fridge is accessible to view and you’ll find this like NOrthCoast Old Rasputin, Brooklyn’s and DDC’s. The manager is alwayas trying to get new things in and does from time to time and they are usually good stuff. Seems like they are slowly phasing out the massive selection of lagers from strange countries that all taste the same. She knows her beer pretty good but the rest of the staff really doesn’t know shit but it doesn’t really matter. Go look at the menu or the fridge for yourself. The food is very good for a pool hall locale but this place is pretty big with tons of seating for non-pool peeps, booths along the windows. It’s very open. Gets freaking busy on Friday and Saturday eves so plan accordingly. Decent place to watch hockey and UFC. The music is not blaring but usually perfectly loud. Who doesn’t want to play pool and drink a glass of 10% stout??? | | gramity (22), Edmonton, Alberta | | February 14, 2011 Good place to catch the hockey game or UFC fights while actually getting a decent selection of beer.
Food has always been good - but never stellar. Never been served something disgusting.
Lots of pool tables and room to host larger groups. | MrFecesious (7), British Columbia does not count - explanation | | August 3, 2009 great place. good food, and they actually have stuff on their menu beyond typical bar/pub fare. beer selection is surprisingly good. obviously inflated prices since you’re purchasing beer at a bar, however, the prices are still quite reasonable having that in mind. great atmosphere. be warned, they have very limited glasses for the types of beer they sell. they used to, but i’m pretty certain that people were ripping them off. staff isn’t too knowledgeable on the beer, but a good place for a starting point of trying some different beer (if you haven’t already had them). and i haven’t been in another bar that has the same selection. and once in a while, they do bring in seasonal beers. | | bulldogops (14), Alberta | | July 20, 2009 Great find downtown. Best beer selection I’ve found in a while, lots of european treats. And that does include the servers. Gorgeous and friendly staff. Good food, lots of pool tables, and a modern feel.
Must go back. |
