86Moose (1), , does not count - explanation | | November 29, 2011 Excellent pub! Very crowded on weekends. But, once you get a seat and open a tab, service is great. Bartenders go out of their way to explain beers and provide unlimited samples. While it may seem pricey for Edwardsville, it is a great bargain for the qulaity and range of their beer selection. Global Brew has my loyalty every time I travel downstate to Cardinals country. | | jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | August 20, 2011 Stopped in to try a few beers, and had a great time. The bartender, Adam, was very knowledgable, and very willing to let us try several of their taps. He made several suggestions and we were glad he did. The selection of beers is very impressive. Yes, it is similar to the ITAP set-up, but is unique with the second story view of downtown. We will definitely return, cheers!!! | wxman (1), O’Fallon, Illinois does not count - explanation | | July 9, 2011 What a great place and concept!. 250+ brews with probably 60 or so on tap at any given time. Just beer - - no wine or liquor. No food served, but you can carry in or order in. The draft selection changes frequently, two dropped off and new were added while we were at the bar. So, you have to drop in or call to see what’s new. Love this place! | | tjern16 (11), Alabama | | July 8, 2011 Great location. Overlooks down town edwardsville. This bar has a very extensive craft beer list. The staff is about 50/50. There are some very knowledgeable employees and some that have no knowledge of craft beer what so ever. | | phaleslu (241), Saint Louis, Missouri | | February 11, 2011 Global Brew Tap House is in a strip mall just off the Main Street area in Edwardsville. It is on the second floor of a new-ish building above a sushi place and next to a salon and a Marines recruiting station- pretty strange location overall, and I couldn’t help but be amused at the surroundings as I walked in. The inside reminds me a lot of International Tap House Soulard. A lot. The lighting is low, the bar is high, and the 50 taps are all in a row behind the bar, flanked by four large bottle refrigerators. Flat-screen TVs rest above the taps and fridges. The place is brand new and still had that just-built smell. The service was slow initially, but then really friendly and engaging. The bartender said they never expected the crowds they’ve been getting so far and might beat opening-two-week expectations by triple. There is no food but you can bring it in and plenty of options are nearby. The crowd is a mix of locals and SIUE kids and overall seemed to be new to craft beer but very enthusiastic. Great place, the top overall selection in Edwardsville, even if Bigelo’s seems to get more exciting taps. Go to Bigelo’s for a meal and couple beers, then finish here. That’s what I did. | | Strykzone (71), Wood River, Illinois | | February 6, 2011 Located above the Wasabi restaurant. What a great beer bar! Fifty beers on tap, 200 bottles, and a very cool laid back feel. I stopped in on the Sunday after their Friday opening and things were running smoothly. They were very much anticipated and well received. They do not serve food but allow anything to be brought in. Pints were mostly $5 with some higher. For example, Chimay was $8. This bar will see me often. |
