Good selection of California and import beers. Decent tour, and good food. Worth the trip from San Diego.

I finally made it here last week after hearing so much about it. Beers: Wow, great selection of beers on tap and bottles. All the beers I had were great (as expected). Food: It was on the expensive side but very good but not much quantity (I stopped and ate at a taco joint on my way back to the hotel). I would definitely recommend a visit to Stone Brewing. Pliny the Elder on tap was worth the visit alone.

In the middle of nowhere, this place is very cool. Pretty effin sweet gift shop. We got a bunch of stuff from the menu, and it was all tasty as hell, though way too expensive for the food. Of course Stone beer is great, and the guest beers were awesome. Our waitress was crappy, but that may have just been unlucky.

Stopped by when visiting friends on Navy duty. We decided to go during the day and spend the afternoon there. The food was kinda of pricey but we weren’t there to eat! Of course everything by Stone you could want was on tap and well as some local brews. I wish I could remember more but I do know we took a cab back and had a great time!

Came here for Stone Sourfest 09. Some really nice beer gardens, lots of place to sit and eat. Didn’t get a brewery tour, but they were brewing while I was sitting outside, and the smell of the malts followed up by the hops was delicious. Great atmosphere, would definitely come back.

Went with the wife on our honeymoon(was the place she was most excited to visit) and while everything was pretty awesome, there was some bumps through the experience. The ambiance was fantastic. Beer list was pretty good, lots of Stone regulars and regional brews, nice bottle selection too. The only thing with the brews that got me was it seemed the some of specialty Stone brews we were eying were long gone before we got there. Given the size of the place it’s really no surprise, but no less irritating. If you can’t supply enough for service, you probably shouldn’t do it, especially if you post it on your calender. Our server was friendly, though the service was a bit spotty. Perhaps she had more tables than she could handle, this being evident by a number of different people bringing us our items to us... or the tables around us. Never got our waters refilled, and there seemed to be great gaps when we last got our server to serve us. Like I said, she seemed really busy, so perhaps a lack of servers overall may have been the problem. The food we ordered was for the most part, pretty damn good. The soft pretzels were tasty, the sirloin was awesome, my wife enjoyed her salad and soup. Though mousse we had was fairly "meh", resonating no essence of espresso/coffee one would expect from "espresso mousse" and the salad which listed its ingredients on the menu, included some extra ingredients, some good, some not so good. Overall we had a nice time, it was one of those places any beergeek would want to go. The IPA and Ruination were awesome and somewhat different right from the source. Something certainly gets lost in translation between there and any bar in Ohio who carries it. We picked up a couple Old Guardian glasses while we waited for our table and had a pretty good meal in some beautiful surroundings. Not getting to try something I haven’t tried from Stone at their restaurant was a real bummer and would bum out any beer geek(s) who made the trek out. Would I go again? Sure. Not for dinner...maybe for lunch, or just mid-afternoon to sit at the bar. Between the overwhelmed staff and the way beer runs out, the earlier you get there, the better apparently.

Smell of brewing radiates from this place and is very noticeable in the slender parking lot. Good feel with the spacious seating, garden decor, and large stone in the hostess waiting area. Beers were excellent, including the many guest taps for sampling. Food was above average but not great. I enjoyed the "En Fuego" Tempeh burger "insanely hot" with diced jalepenos inside. They were out of the fried potato balls, and the mushroom appetizer was ok. Service was simply horrible and prices were rather high. The arrogant attitude is funny on the back of the Arrogant Bastard beer bottle, but not so funny when you get it from your server. Tap list is great for Stone brews of course, but even better for regional beers that are available in taster size only, and they’re pricey at $3/taste. I know they’re promoting the house beers but for the family with you that doesn’t necessarily love heavily hopped beers, at least one full sized non-hoppy beer would have been nice.

I just travelled to San Diego and really loved my stop here. I couldn’t make all the stops I wanted to - ran out of time to visit Lost Abbey - but this almost made up for it. Got to try some great Stone brews and some great ones from other folks too. Food was a little expensive, but my wife and I enjoyed the apps and a steak. Very highly recommended!
