| Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | April 28, 2012 With this visit, I’ve hit every DFH location except the brewery itself. The Rehoboth Beach location is obviously by far the best. This one is in a generic suburban stripmsll, but is very close to major transportation routes. No special beers here, just the usual mainstream DFH and a seasonal. Food is OK. Prices are high. They will do growlers soon, but no date has been set. They do 7 ounce poirs of all their beers, but it doesn’t save you much cash. A 7 oz pour of Black and Blue was $8.25, fir a 10% beer. Go to the Beach if you can. | | jefcon (35), Arlington, Virginia | | September 12, 2011 Always a wide variety of DFH beers on tap and in the bottle, with seasonals on constant rotation. The service and food are above average for a brewpub, making the Alehouse a comfortable place for families. Nice range of entrees, from unique, huge sandwiches to more traditional American pub food like steaks and roast chicken. A standby at our house. | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | September 5, 2011 Two visits about a week apart and the bartender remembered my name - that’s good stuff. Not only that, but Naomi seemed to know just about everyone who sat at the bar. Selection is limited to DFH beers, but that’s not a bad thing. And the fact that the bartenders have beer mixes to suggest based on your preferences is a great added dimension. Ambiance is pretty standard brewpub with perhaps some commercial overtones that are a bit off-putting for me, but the service goes a long way towards making things more comfortable. Food is pretty standard pub choices with some mid-Atlantic specialties thrown in, but cooked to a high standard. I would go again in a minute if I lived in the area and will visit DFH the next time I’m on the east coast. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | June 10, 2011 [ Updated May 21, 2012 ] Not my first time here, but the first time that counts as my first time there was about a 45 minute wait... for the bar. Yeesh. This time, the place was very crowded but at least a seat was available. Kinda boring restaurant theme, but the beer is good, there are some special beers and the bartenders were very cool, going out of there way to share some cool blends. For the record... 90 minute + Festina Peche is awesome.
Update: Overall dinged down a bit and value bumped all the way down. I was there today (5/2/12) and got a 7 ounce pour of URKoninent for $8.25. That’s almost $19 a pint!!! I might have even done that, too, but the bar staff didn’t feel the need to warn me and prices aren’t listed on the chalk board. A little miffed. | | ekoerper (32), Iowa | | January 5, 2011 A good place to grab some Dogfish and food, but it’s no Brewings and Eats. Selection was what I expected, usual Dogfish lineup. Bartender was more concerned with chatting with the ladies than serving beer, which was my main complaint. Food was good, but for the real Dogfish experience you have to go to Rehoboth Beach. | | BeerandBlues2 (358), Lone Tree, Colorado | | August 28, 2010 Nicely decorated nautical theme with a fair amount of seating, located out front of a strip mall. The service is attentive and fairly knowledgeable regarding DFH beers. The food is above average and decently priced. | | savnac (155), Anchorage, Alaska | | October 28, 2009 Went for dinner on a busy night. Had a pint in the bar while waiting for a table. Service pretty much sucked once we got a table. The selection was pretty good but overpriced ($18 for last years WWS) some of the drafts were really expensive too. Did get to try the 75 min and Lawnmower though. Basically tried stuff that you can only get at the Alehouse. Might go back for the beer or maybe the food which was ok, hopefully the service would be better next time though. | | CanIHave4Beers (69), Des Moines, Iowa | | October 19, 2009 This place is totally a restaurant, but the bar is big enough to accommodate more than a few drinkers. They had a very wide list of Dogfish head beers and some different stuff than was at the brewpub location. They also had some interesting things in bottles... Immortale, Olde School, Budweiser, Fort, Theobrama, Miller Lite. The decor in here is nice and the staff although sparse and spread a little thin was very friendly and made sure that I knew what I was ordering when I got a Pangea and a Festina Peche. | | Elwood (83), Leesburg, Virginia | | August 18, 2009 I went in there looking for a deep dish pizza, but got some beer instead. I was looking forward to visiting one of the DF Alehouses for quite awhile. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. The decor was pretty average but the service was good. The bar staff seemed knowledgeable about the beers. There were only DF beers on tap (no surprise there) but with the exception of the Lawnmower, you can get it all in the store. What really surprised me was the price. $6.25 a pint?? And that’s for the cheaper stuff! If you want a bottle of Sahtea or the like, forget about it. You can pay a third of the price at your local beer store. Unfortunately you really aren’t missing anything if you skip this one. | | beer4mencc1701 (15), Irving, Texas | | July 6, 2009 We were visiting from Dallas & by Dallas bar standards this place is pretty neat. It’s like an upscale TGI Fridays (ie- crap on the walls) but with a much better atmosphere & an impressive menu. We only shared a burger but it was outstandingly grilled perfect to order. The selection of Dogfish Head beer is terrific & the bartender was very passionate, knowledgeable & friendly. The sampler was a great way to try several brews & was reasonably priced. The Alehouse 75 (blend of 60 & 90 min) was terrific. We would definitely return whenever back in the area. |
