One of the best NorCal beer bars I’ve been to outside the Bay Area. Yes, it’s small. Yes, it can be crowded. Yes, it can be loud. But the decor, the character of the building, the beer knowledge of the staff, and most importantly, the beer slection are all fantastic. Nice bottle selection with detailed menus. Great local brew selection and a "Beer from 100-mile radius" happy hour. Combine this with some really tasty burgers, and you’ve got a must stop for craft beer lovers.

Nice comfy place in old town Folsom with 16 taps that rotate. Nice seating but small actual bar. Knowledgeable staff and tasty burgers. A must-stop for beer lovers in Folsom. Can get very busy on weekend nights but off times is a great place to relax and enjoy a great selection of beers on tap or in bottles.

I visited this place for a happy hour one afternoon. It’s very small, and quite crowded with wealthy, caucasian businessmen who probably own Porsches. There are some nice booths to sit at and whatnot. The bathrooms are really nice, but they’re located outside down the alleyway. The beer selection is very nice, with usually several beers that are rare to the area. They have a really nice bottle list, with reasonable prices. I am not sure about the food here, as I did not order any. The service here is good, and the bartenders are knowledgeable. Just a little too small and too crowded. It has the clientele that I would expect from a place in Folsom.

Hit this for Sac Beer Week. Lookin for the Abacus. Got it. Had Pliny on tap. Opened a cask of Union Jack. Staff was accomodating with idiot questions. Well, picky, detailed - not idiot. Kind of a shotgun layout. Head is outside. It understandably brought Jerusalem Tavern in London to miind. Seemed a great place, and probably somewhat of a local. Neat venue.

Great new option for craft beer drinkers in the Folsom/Sacramento area. Sam Horne’s has an excellent selection rotating taps. Recent ones include Goose Island Matilda, Lost Abbey Angel’s Share, Jolly Pumpkin Oro De Calabaza, and Stone Sublimely Self Righteous. I’ve been really impressed with the tap selection because they always have plenty of pours that are rare and hard to find in most places. Sam Horne’s features only American craft beers and the bottle options are great, too. Multiple selections from brewers like Firestone Walker (incl. 13th Anniv & Parabola), Rogue, Port Brewing, and Sierra Nevada are common. The available bottles are displayed behind the bar where all orders for food and drinks are placed. A bottle list would be nice especially for when the bar is busy and/or bottles can not be easily identified from a distance. Draught beers are listed on a chalkboard that nicely details the beer’s style, size of pour, ABV, and a scale showing the beer’s relative maltiness and bitterness. A nice touch. The staff is happy to pour a taster of the beers on tap. A full bar is also available for non-beer drinkers. I noticed several good Scotches on the shelf and a bottle of Rogue’s gin. The food is really good. Not sure if the specials are daily or weekly, but there is a featured appetizer dip that is usually delicious, a full food menu, and an old-school style "Blue Plate Special." Expect to find salads, sandwiches, burgers, sausages, and other tavern-type entres. Bottles are available for purchase to-go and the mark-up isn’t outrageous. There’s curbside parking and free city lots within two blocks. Other good beer options like The Cellar, Yaeger’s, and Power House Pub are just a couple blocks away. Mandere’s is a short drive, about two miles, up the road.
