When in France, your best bet for decent beers is likely to be a supermarket such as Carrefour. Carrefour do a decent range of French and Belgian beers, and will usually stock local beers. They have a fondness for the Normandy/Brittany beers, and shops all around the country will often have those. If you’re looking for the French microbreweries, the best place is Carrefour. This is a supermarket in the heart of the city center and straight up the street about maybe 6 blocks from the train station. They have a nice selection of produce, meats, cheeses, a couple kinds of glassware, liqour, bread, and wine. Their beer selection is not too bad with some things I haven’t seen elsewhere in the short time I’ve been in France. At least one of the check-out ladies speaks English. |
