| mnoud (15), Martinsburg, West Virginia | | January 4, 2012 [ Updated January 6, 2012 ] More focused on wine than beer, as stated by prior reviewers. However they have a respectable selection of craft beers, including some things not typically seen in other local shops. Staff are not overly helpful. Example: I asked for an empty box to gather a bunch of 750ml bottles. They said "bring them to the counter when you’re ready and we’ll take care of it", and they then put them into a box. So, congratulations - I bought less than I might otherwise have. Worth a stop if you’re on the "strip" in Frederick for the selection. | | strongpieman (68), Mount Airy, Maryland | | September 11, 2011 Stopped in for the first time recently and was a little disappointed. Medium sized store, no singles, fair selection of large bottles. Prices seem typical, a few looked a bit high. Service was non-existent (not that I was looking for any) May not be bad if you are already in that area, but it is not worth a special trip. | | Elwood (83), Leesburg, Virginia | | August 7, 2011 Don’t expect too much from this strip mall liquor store. There really wasn’t much that was amazing here and the prices seemed to me to be on the high side. If you live nearby, it might be worth the occasional stop to see if you can find a diamond in the rough, but otherwise it’s not worth going out of your way for. | | BeerandBlues2 (358), Lone Tree, Colorado | | May 6, 2011 A shopping center liquor store with an average (at best) selection of beers. The prices are on par with the region, though there were some mark-downs worth a double take, like 4-year old DFH Raison D’Extra for $5.99. The staff might be helpful if English is not your first language. | | hoosiers1994 (20), Maryland | | March 25, 2011 Prices are high, but they usually get some decent beers in. Overall it is OK, they just expanded, but really are more focused on wine than micro or craft beers. Prices are high. | | Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | August 22, 2008 Picked up several singles/bombers here. Decent selection and prices, even got a ’case discount’ because I bought quite a few. If this place allowed you to break six-packs, it’d be much better. I saw a lot of different local micros that I’d not had, but were only available by the six pack. Found a few goodies that I’d not seen in western PA. | | hellbilly (130), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | June 28, 2008 MEH... mediocre selection at best. sign reading ’do not break up sixpacks’ next to a small selection of singles from broken up sixers! a lot of stuff i can get in AZ and deus for $48... wtf? i’ll say it again, meh. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | November 13, 2007 My new favorite beer store in western Maryland. Great selection: 2005 and 2006 Interlude, Fantome Hiver, Noel and others, Pannepot (Danish version), Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze and Schaerbeekse Kriek. They don’t allow breaking of six-packs, but most good stuff is put out as singles, bombers and 750s. Smaller selection than Ye Old Spirit Shop, but overall the quality of the bottles is higher. | pythonmets (8), Charles Town, West Virginia does not count - explanation | | March 12, 2007 The previous review claims that they allow breaking up six packs, but the last time I was in this store I remember seeing a sign that read "DO NOT BREAK UP SIX PACKS!" They had their single bottles on shelves against the wall, and six packs and cases in a small area in front of the coolers. Anyway, they have a slightly better selection then the other good beer store in the area. However the service, to me, is non existant, usually some guy sitting at the register waiting to ring me out. In all my visits I don’t think anyone has approached me or engaged me in any way. No matter. They have a nice selection of spirits as well, premium rums, bourbons, and single malt scotch. Prices are decent as well. | | vyvvy (24), Florissant, Missouri | | February 19, 2007 Nice wine shop that has beer in the back. They allow breaking up of six packs. Good selection that fairly well laid out, but not as much of a selection as Ye Olde Spirit Shop. The workers answered any questions, but were not the friendliest - I think I’m spoiled by all of the beer geek employees that love to chat back in St. Louis. A nice shop overall. I suggest going to both Westridge and Ye Old Spirit Shop if you are in Frederick. They are not that far from each other, prices are similar & each had things the other didn’t. |
