Visited in April 2012. Busy pub, with a crowded bar and more relaxed room at the back. A wide selection of keg beers, with imports from Scandinavia and California, and options from the east coast of Australia as well as WA. Also had one beer available cask conditioned. Service was friendly and brisk and the prices ok. Makes for a good pairing with the Monk.

Best pub in freo. Awesome beers on tap and its ever changing which is awesome. If I go there two weekends in a row there are usually some different stuff on. Great value for craft beer especially a few you can get in pints. Wicked place

I haven’t visited for a while and it seems like the beer list has grown. The house beers are decent with the chilli beer being my favourite, The honey beer is also worth a try.

Solid pub in the heart of Freo. Amazing selection of beers on tap. Some good local stuff there as well. I find that everytime I go back to this pub, the range of craft on tap gets better and better. Well priced as well

Visited several times during January - March 2008. Noisy ground floor, but a nice first floor with a terrace with a view to the main street and the markets. Beers were decent.

Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon, after going to Little Creatures. Isn’t much to look at on the outside, but inside it is a fairly spacious, two story bar. Staff was friendly, but don’t think that they knew much about the beer. The porter, stout, and IPA were all served in the same type of glass, and unfortunately the glass was chilled, so it took a long time for it to warm up. Price was pretty average. Selection included their 4 staple beers, and at least one special. Nothing spectacular, but it is decent, and the beer isn’t too bad.

This place used to be a Fremantle icon and was the first place to brew its own beer in the West. Then a few years ago, the management alegedly spent a fortune on ’doing it up’, but it looks and feels like they spent a few grand at Ikea! Anyway, they have successfully ruined this once-great pub. Added to this, they employ the worst bar staff I have ever bought beer from who know nothing about the beer and even less about how to pull it from handpumps. So, much as I like their beers, I now stay well away from the place.

Unfortunately one of the boxes ticked is for smoking. It seems that the west hasn’t adopted the strict policies of the east and so for a non-smoker it is quite unpleasant. ad that to the LOUD thumping msic the only place to sit and anjoy a beer is to go outside. Didn’t have the food but a glance at the menu and look at the offerings seem to indicate a reasonable but not special fare on offer. The bottle shop is touted as being great but having been spoilt by the IBS in West Leederville I can’t be anything but underwhelmed. The best thing about this place is its position as it is a quck walk to great restaurants and other Freo bars.

Large brewpub, noisy but friendly, the beers I tried were excellent. Great university-style pub environment. Didn’t try the food.
