alex4r (7), , does not count - explanation | | November 16, 2011 Thug life in Gainesville? This is the place to go to feel like you are about to get stabbed. The place looks like a shit hole but once you get inside it is Gainesville craft beer heaven. They have all the typical craft beers plus cheap ass Natty Kegs for like 45 bucks for the tailgate. Bring your sharpie and tag up the outside because nobody would care.
Whenever I go back to G’ville to watch the Gators I make sure to stop here and get some brews; you should do the same. | | craftbeerdesign (92), Alpharetta, Georgia | | July 23, 2011 small and cramped liquor store on University very close to the UF campus - a definite stop for me every time I’m in town to get some CCB. Lots of craft beer in this store arranged by style in small cramped aisles with some singles in a cooler. They usually have a good amount of Cigar City as well as everything else FL gets. Prices are fair. Somewhat sketchy characters linger outside. Great mural on the outside wall - if you are a Gator fan! | tightslice (4), Gainesville, Florida does not count - explanation | | June 2, 2011 Maybe it’s me, the romantic... but this place is a man among men (homosexual pun intended for the sake of my father). What appears to be an undergrad’s grimy exploration into cheap college casual sex turns into the post grad thesis on kama coitus upon entering (please forgive the pretense). Huh? Cut the gay shit and get to the good stuff! This place fucking shreds.... Big Juicy Bottles of Macro and Micro Biology, Cigar City (Tampa is/was the Death Metal Capital of the World for a Reason you Fucking Pansy!), and a soda machine. Don’t be thwarted by the mute gangster asking for money outside or the bored warbling dodo (okay, he’s a nice guy, he just doesn’t give a shit) taking your money at the register... time to get fancy fucked! A place that Jamison Lee would surely approve of. | | HonusWagner (11), Florida | | May 26, 2011 This is definitely a place where you want to be familiar with the staff. I’ve had them special order me beer, hold stuff for me, and just generally shoot the shit about beers they tried recently. It’s a dingy ass convenience store that looks like it’s in a more dangerous part of town than it really is. The selection is pretty much top notch for Gainesville; lacks the European variety of Tipples but more than makes up for it with a much heftier American list. I’ll even bump it a point for basically maxing out what I think you can do in this beer hellhole. | | GT2 (196), Washington DC | | May 26, 2011 Much easier to get to than Tipple’s or Ward’s if you are hanging around Gainesville’s "downtown". Gatorbev is really a convenience store that for some reason stocks a lot of random large format bottles including Cigar City. This is sort of like a very small version of Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham, NC. Odd finds have been Dupont Avec les bon Voeux, Duck-Rabbit, Bells Expedition, Hitachino, Cigar City 110K+OT #3, lots of random Scottish and English bottles. Definitely worth a stop and you might some oddities. | pacond (7), Gainesville, Florida does not count - explanation | | May 11, 2011 Everyone there is nice to you if you are cool. If a beer is available in Gainesville it is most likely there and you won’t find it any cheaper. They have a mix and match fridge too. | | blbaub (10), Florida | | January 15, 2011 Agree with other reviews, but not as harsh with environment. Good overall selection at a good price. It is what it is people. You can’t have cheap beer and a million dollar facility. | wintre (1), Gainesville, Florida does not count - explanation | | August 14, 2010 The service and ambiance are pretty terrible, but, the selection definitely makes up for it. Overall, it’s one of the better places in the area in terms of selection by far. | | cirtap (10), Florida | | April 13, 2010 Very very very small place that manages to pack a good amount of beers in. Prices were ok and selection was good, but the service was not. | | azorie (26), Florida | | February 3, 2010 This is a tiny little place off the main drag near the U of F. It is mainly a beer/liquor store, They do have good prices, and a decent selection for such a small store and space limitations, heck I regularly make a trip down here from Jacksonville, because for what i drink they have a better selection than total wine does, Crazy shit but totally true. They have all terrapin, sweetwater and Atlanta brewing stuff, that TW half the time never has. |
