Gardner is a rather ugly little town, seems to be a former industrial town. Some semi-abandoned buildings around the pub. But the pub itself is rather cute, almost classy. Big places, sits well over 100. The pub is separated in two sections. One section being more restaurant, the other being more pub/bar. Food ranges for standard pub greasy food to more elaborate meals at $25. As appropriate for a quick snack as it is for a nice meal. Buffet until 2pm on Sundays. Sadly, no patio. Tap selection was 5 homebrews and 4 interesting guest beer. Food was good and offers a good quality price ratio is good. Most beer are solid. They don’t go far off the beaten path with their beer but you’ll find a few interesting ones. Overall this place is worth the detour.

I purposely saved my first review for the Gardner Ale House. I just discovered this place a little while ago and have been there twice. The pub fare is way above average (I’ve had the pizza, wings, and burgers), but it’s more about the beer. The Chair City Pale Ale is a very solid American Pale Ale and worth the trip for me, and I love the Dopplebock. But what’s going to keep me coming back is the Face-Off Double IPA. Outstanding!

This is a friendly place where conversation is natural and unpretentious. I’m told the food is quite good, although I didn’t have any when I visited. The beer is well above average and the price is excellent ($4.50 for a sampler of five beers).

Nice little brewpub/restaurant in downtown Garner. Had a little trouble finding the place at first. Had to stop and ask directions. Cozy, warm ambiance with exsposed brick walls and dark stained beams. As far as food goes, they had everything from basic fried pub food to full coarse dinners. The wife and I put together an all appetizer supper. The plate of nachos was huge. The beer was solid and well made. We had sampled some of their beer at a beer fest and decided to check the place out. It’s really not far from were I live.

A comfortable restaurant with a full menu of standard fare. The pizzas looked really good though we didn’t order them but saw alot going to the tables near us. The beer is just average, my favorite being the chair city pale ale which was nothing spectacular but still very drinkable.

This cozy pub and family restaurant is laden with brick walls, which conveniently contain many glassless windows that look onto adjacent rooms and kitchen. Service we had was very friendly but not knowledgeable. The food was your average pub grub quality and the beers were nearly all decent quaffers. Since this is quite out of the way, I don’t see myself coming back out too often, but I can’t knock this place for offering sub-par products.

A nice new establishment in downtown Gardner. 6 beers on tap and they were all well made, the doppelbock being the standout beer for me. Got a cool tour of the place and great descriptions of all the challenges they faced installing their brewing system from the brewer. Worth a stop if you are in the area.
