| Johnsense (33), , | | January 7, 2012 Ambiance? It’s a cheese and boutuque food store. The smell of cheese hits you as you walk in the door but you’ll get used to it. Service is pretty good but the staff can smell English on you a mile away. One guy didn’t know a thing about beer but one girl was pretty helpful. Fairly good selection of Quebec Micro’s. The odd thing that Brou Ha Ha may not have. The cheese here is pretty darned good though the prices on crackers etc. is steeper than your average Quebec depanneur or marche. Fairly good selection of Quebec Micros - DDC, LTM, McAuslan, Charlevoix, and the other Quebec brewers. Prices are in line with or a bit cheaper than BHH. Not quite the selection of Unibroues that Jovi has. If your wife’s at the mall hit up La Trappe and grab a couple blocks of cheese and a couple beer for the hotel. | | cfrancis (58), Ottawa, Ontario | | November 3, 2009 So much better than the other Trappe in Hull. This one has a ton of selection. Went there and the lady that I assumed was either an owner or had been there awhile was helping me out with my selections. Commenting on different beers that I was specifically asking for and offering up similar brews that I could be interested in. Oh yeah, they sell pretty awesome cheese here as well! Prices might be a little higher than normal but considering you can’t find any of these beers outside of Montreal and Marche Jovi (who has similar prices) you pay the premium. | | grandgenie (21), gatineau, Quebec | | January 16, 2009 J’aime bien cette place, pour le service comme pour les choix offert en fromage e aliments fins. | | Diogène (40), Mirabel, Quebec | | February 25, 2006 This is a good place for fine food, and especially cheese. The beer selection is good, with Bièropholie/Chaudron, McCauslan, Unibroue, RJ, Lièvre, Saint-Arnould, Trois mousquetaires and Schoune. Prices are higher than Jovi and there is no foreign beer. | unibrouefan (1), Gatineau, Quebec does not count - explanation | | January 20, 2006 This is the best place in Outaouais. They got a great selection of cheese (my favorite cheese are le Douanier, le baluchon and the Guiness). They also got my favorite mustard (Moutarde à la Fin du Monde). I got this product at the Festival de la bière de Montréal, but I was surprise to see that La Trappe got this mustard. As for the beer, they got a phenomenal selection of Microbrasserie beer. My favorite are product from Unibroue, les Brasseurs RJ and la Brasseries les trois mousquetaires.
On a negative point, this place is too small...at christmas time I waited 30 minutes in line and there were no place for people. | | pintbypint (22), Edmonton, Alberta | | July 17, 2005 Had beers 6 packs from Schoune, Bieropholie, Unibroue, St Arnoud, and a few others. Some Schoune and La Lievre, and Unibroue singles, various Quebec ciders. Some beer cheeses and beer mustards. Small glassware selection. | | CapFlu (185), Victoria, British Columbia | | March 27, 2005 There is a great selection of cheeses along with the regular Quebec micros in the region. I, however, very much appreciate the ciders they’ve made available: many of the more difficult Michel Jodoin bottles are displayed. The prices are slightly elevated (The same Quebec cheese, Le Chevre Noir, is cheaper in the Glebe [trendy Ottawa neighbourhood] than in its rightful province?). | | Boutip (49), Gatineau, Quebec | | October 18, 2004 [ Updated August 14, 2006 ] This place is mainly a cheese store but you will find a great selection of beers at the back. All of Unibroue products are available (as well as limited edition package), St-Arnould, La Lièvre and Schoune. There is also a section with a great selection of glassware and beer books (all in French though). There are also a couple of regional ciders to choose from. Also, there are a couple of beer cheeses available (Chimay, Raclette Griffon). The staffs is now quite knowledgeable and very helpful. Now allows case split of most beers which is a plus. |
