We visited Blackfriars on Thursday 18th June 2015, we’d had a lovely mini pub crawl staring at Brewdog and then many in between, eventually moving over to the east of the centre taking in the excellent Drygate prior to ending up here. Blackfriars was very much a traditional pub compared to the Brewdog and Drygate who are the more modern new kids on the block. It is situated on a corner in a busy little area for food places and bars, quite a few larger chain offerings around here though. It was really bustling, the afterwork crowd had started to arrive and it was a good male and female mix with a slightly older demographic than the aforementioned bars. Beer choice was predominantly cask, handpump but a little more limited than I was expecting, we both settled for an Oakham Inferno which was in good nick. I never had a particularly good walk of the pub to see how many rooms, layout etc but it did seem quite a good size, what appeared like one large room we sat near the windows at the front, I seem to recall this was a raised area, a group of blokes all young pensioners sat on a neighbouring table all drinking beer and having a good catch up, it looked like they were regular drinking buddies. I quite liked this place, the staff were busy but friendly in fact you could say, much like the pub overall.

Traditional pub in a heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City. Six taps + some bottles in fridges. The selection is not really impressive. Mostly brtish bitters and ciders on taps. Atmosphere is very nice though.

Loudy and overcrowded classic Scottish pub with long, wooden bar. Beer sellection isn’t so impressive: a few real ales in cascs and also a few concerns in kegs - best choise was Tempest Porter. Kernel and Flying Dog available only in bottles. Possitive surprise was a board with beers waiting in a tap line.

We visited Blackfriars on a Thursday early evening. Even though it was early the bouncers were out front and the place was pretty rammed. Had a fairly rough-around the edges feel about it. They has small, but interesting cask ale selection, This is supplemented with about 50 bottles from UK/Europe/US. Service was prompt and friendly. We just stayed for a quick one as it was too busy and a bit lively for my likely. Perhaps would be better during the day. Alright, but there are plenty better beer destinations in Glasgow IMO.

2014-06-27. Nice place, our first beer stop in Scotland! Friendly server, it has a pub meets cafe impression to it. Our food was good and seemed reasonably priced - Mac and cheese and a steak "pie" (aka. stew with puffed pastry on top). Some decent real ale options. Got fairly busy shortly after we arrived on a Friday afternoon. Would come back but the appeal will laregly vary according to the tap list, which rotates.

A good pub with 4 real ale pumps and a selection of draught continental beers such as Krusovice, Weihenstephan, Birra Moretti and more. The pub has a decent selection of malts and some bottled beers .The drinks are a bit on the pricy side but other than that a good pub.

Not a bad place, about 5 real ales on cask, and some nice bottles. Friendly service. The food is also better than expected.

An interesting bar in the centre of the city, with a traditional ale and craft beer selection taking in many Scottish ales, German weissbiers and a nice selection of American craft beer! A very popular and busy bar however there is a nice atmosphere with welcoming staff. A top pub with a cracking selection!

My favourite pub in Glasgow. Good location, great selection of real ales and american beers, the service is great even when is really busy.
And they serve bottles of beer in a wine glass.
