Placed an online order in May’14.
Decent enough selection, I’m told there’s quite a bit more on the shelves than goes online, but at least you get the option to place an online order here! I was actually after a Partizan beer I’d been chasing which I picked up and managed to fill up a box of 12 beers with interesting enough ticks from Scotland, England and Austria (Bevog).
2 of my original picks were out of stock and they emailed me to let me know, offering some suggestions for similar beers, but crucially holding back on the order until I got back in touch with them.
Whilst this delayed my order by the best part of a week (I had presumed the email was an automated dispatch note initially) I was glad not to end up with beers I didn’t want and was able to make new picks!
General (online) range is OK whilst not mind blowing, prices are fair, although the postage is a little steep @£9 compared to the typical £6.50-£7.50 range in the UK.
Can also use AMEX here (only UK onliner I’ve found so far that deoes!) so nice for the airmile top up.
Overall a good experience.
Hippo Beers won’t be my first choice on line port of call but I’ll be sure to check them out from time to time.

Glasgow’s best beer shop. Great service from the guys, who know what they are talking about. The selection is mostly UK-based with a focus on Scotland. They do, however, have a solid set of belgian, German and US breweries represented. You can always get Rochefort, Cantillon, Celebrator etc, which is why I go back. I enjoy the new UK stuff, even if some of it is of questionable quality. I would like to see some more traditional UK ales represented (especially Sam Smiths, which draws me to the Cave), but I understand space is limited. Still, just great.

Great place. Pretty small but packed with beers from everywhere. Divided up into sections so that you can easily find the brewers you are looking for. Staff knows the stock and beer. If you re in Glasgow you gotta stop by for instant beer gratification. Not cheap but nothing in Scotland is, but you get what you pay for.

We walked here after visiting Inn Deep, which took about 10/15 mins. Hippo Beer is Glasgow’s only dedicated beer shop and will not disappoint! The Scottish selection was easily the best in town with the likes of Cromarty and Tempest filling up the shelves. UK craft beer big-hitters such as Kernel, Partizan were also well represented. They also have extensive US, Scandanavian, Belgian and German offerings. There are some fridges which is great for picking up some craft cans for thewalk to your next beer venue! Plenty of clothing and glassware also. Guys working there know there stuff. They just pip Valhalla’s Goat to the best beer selection in Glasgow. A must-visit.

Glasgow’s bottle shops are still not quite to the level of their Edinburgh counterparts who excel in choice and impressive selection... Hippo Beers is a new bottle shop which has already cemented its place as one of the best bottle shops in the city!
A short 15 minute walk away from the Hillhead subway station, Hippo Beers has a fantastic selection of ales and craft beers from Scotland, the rest of the UK, Europe, the US and beyond. I definitely recommend a visit if you looking for a good bottle shop in Glasgow!

Probably the widest beer selection in Glasgow, with a particularly good Scottish beer section which is well tilted towards the growing Scottish craft beer scene. As much American beers as they can get (which is can be tough given the limited supply!) Prices are not bad. Friendly staff.

Great new shop in Glasgow, has the best selection of craft beer in the city. Stocks a lot of Scottish and American craft beers as well as other countries offerings.

Glasgow’s first dedicated beer store just opened in the West End of Glasgow close to the Botanic Gardens. Hillhead Underground is not too far away. Over 300 really interesting beers in stock organised by country. They only have smallish quantities of each beer & hope to rotate the selection frequently. Really knowledgeable, interested, friendly & helpful staff. Prices really good. I am really pleased this place has opened as it is close to where I work & will be able to stop off on the way home. Definitely won’t be going so often to Edinburgh now.
