| Vlad (11), Glasgow, Scotland | | April 9, 2012 This is a classic west end corner pub. Always busy and crowded though. Live football and excellent grill. Try their food, it is actually good. Excellent selection of real ales. | | JohnRMurdoch (208), Glasgow, Scotland | | August 14, 2010 [ Updated December 3, 2011 ] Large traditional corner pub in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. Although it has a good selection of real ales some fixed, some rotating. I am not convinced they are always well cared for. Always very crowded and I don’t find it a relaxing place to visit. On a plus note it has live footbal on TV. It is worth dropping in to as it is close to the much better Three Judges & Curlers Rest. | | Ungstrup (335), Oamaru, New Zealand | | September 15, 2007 A weird mix between old and new, the wood panelled walls and the cealing and bar was old fashined and beutiful, but at the same time the flat screen tv’s were running, the most of the furniture was of a more modern design and sparklers were used. The service was fine - didn’t ask for much though. An OK number of beers on - but only three new for me, since a lot of the taps was from larger breweries with broader distribution. I’d hoped for a better selection. | | rlgk (131), Skövde, Sweden | | September 6, 2007 Visited twice during RBESG 2007. Very classical british pub with a nice selection of cask beers. Food is ok, but not more. | | RoyceH (32), Hesperange, Luxembourg | | August 26, 2007 An alright pub, service was quick and abrupt. Beers weren’t in great condition by a long way, with many showing signs of over-venting or just plain tasting of sick. Selection is good, at least, usual suspects, and a few Broughtons. Worth a visit, but not multiples. | | Rastacouere (581), Montréal, Quebec | | August 26, 2007 Comfortable, rather classical street corner pub, that seems to attract a large crowd. A good place to find the Old Jock beer and frankly an easy walk from other more interesting places in the West End, so you might as well pop in, but the rest of the line is of course not very interesting. | | DonMagi (50), bantervile, England | | May 20, 2007 Big ale pub in glasgow down the west end. Iv yet to see it but supposed to be where alot of bands go before they play at glasgows qm union. Always busy also. 9-10 hand pumps, 5 of which are reguars but in saying that they arnt nessesarly always in good nick, and iv been ignored more than once when iv asked them to take off the sparkler. But for glasgow it has one of the most hand pumps. | | MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | January 12, 2007 Quite the decent pub with macro leanings (meaning you’ll see lots of the usual suspects served), but many real ales are offered, and those I had were very well kept (namely the Old Jock). Food is typical pub food quality, and is quite cheap for the area. This is very close to The Three Judges, so if you can’t get any food there (like us on our holiday visit), Tennent’s will be an interesting stopover a couple of minutes away on foot. | OlMalteserHead (4), Glasgow, Scotland does not count - explanation | | December 14, 2006 Not a bad pub. Food is generally middling, as in not great but good compared with other West End pubs. Up to 12 real ales at a time, with 8 regulars, it’s not a bad pub. Can be packed with football fans of a matchday, and is busy Thursday/Friday/Saturday, but is otherwise a fine local. | | TBone (173), Pori, Finland | | September 17, 2006 Some rare beers available as guest ales. Just bit too much sports and too much people here. |
