Formerly the Firkin & Fox, I was sorry to learn that place had left the area. I stress, left the area, not gone out of business. The place was always busy and was the best place for a good pint of beer in Glen Ellyn. Not sure then why the company decided to move unless the rent was overly high or if they saw all of the other business closings around town and decided they could find a different market. After 2-3 months of being closed in the transition to the Tap House Grill, it appears nothing except the menu was changed. The interior decor is identical and the tap selection is virtually identical. Quality selection of taps including Three Floyds Alpha King and Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Spacious place with a small bar room in front and a large dining area in back with booth seating. The Tap House Grill is another small budding chain of sorts with a location in St. Charles and another one opening in Westmont. From the St. Charles website, it didn’t appear the tap selection would be that good, but at least for now, they kept that unchanged from the Firkin & Fox days. Located in the heart of downtown Glen Ellyn and walking distance from the Metra train station. This is not a place to go out of your way for, but if you happen to be in Glen Ellyn and looking for a pint of something good, this is the place.
