8 reviews for Bishops Arms Avenyn
| Nisse666 (24), Göteborg, Sweden | | September 30, 2009 Better then the järntorget BS, a bit more cozier! Nice to sit in the libery with the open fire??? But often crowdy. Perfect "to pop in to" before going to the icehockey or fotball, what not. | AlbertC (8), Göteborg, Sweden does not count - explanation | | August 27, 2009 A nice pub with a good selection. A nice interior and nice local beer. A good mixture of people in a wide age range. | | Jonte (31), Gothenburg, Sweden | | February 28, 2009 In the not so cosy centre of Gothenburg. Decent selection of beers, some times they have one cask ale on. Good whisky selection. High prices. Crowed on weekends. Usually a bit too much "middle aged business men in suit drinking lager" clientel for my liking. | | rlgk (80), Vårgårda, Sweden | | October 5, 2008 In the centre of Göteborg, along the main street. A decent place with nice selection on tap and bottles. Some nice american bottles in the fridge, and usually nice swedish microbrews on tap. A little crowded and a bit of a toruist-trap. | | yngwie (82), Kristiansand, Norway | | August 28, 2008 Ok, so there’s a nice selection of taps and bottles, the location is fine, and there’s plenty of room both inside and outside, still it’s my least favorite Bishops Arms in Gothenburg. At least based on my one visit. Don’t know exactly why, we were welcomed by a friendly staff and a local ratebeerian, but still there’s something. Didn’t get to try the food. | | Egon (10), Gothenburg, Sweden | | August 8, 2008 The second BA to open here in Gothenburg. AS said befgore it is more spacious but I think it it easier to get a table on the the third BA at Järntorget. They have some good beer here but one good reason to get here is actually to get an Ardbeg Mor. The food is expensive and you can get better food on other places. As a nice beer stop on Avenyn it is worth a visit. | | ekstedt (46), Göteborg, Sweden | | August 7, 2008 Located in a hectic downtown area, this place can be very crowded at times, even though it’s the most spacious of the tree BA:s in town. Service is mostly good, but I was once scoffed at when asking for proper glassware for Kaggen and the ordinary Stormaktsporter which I wanted to try side by side. So yes, they sometimes have Kaggen, and usually they have Stormaktsporter. Otherwise the bottle selection is more limited than other BA:s, whilst they sometimes have interesting stuff on draught. Food is a bit mediocre. | | gnoff (127), Göteborg, Sweden | | August 7, 2008 Located at the busy street of Avenyn it has a small outdoors seating in summer, but all year you have access to the dimly lit cellar where the actual bar is located. Seating at the bar, at the many tables or in the cozy library where you can read the many books with your beer if you like. Toilets sometimes feel a bit low on numbers in regards to people. Food is OK, but as for many BA I’ve been to usually nothing spectacular. If you get the right bartender you get great service, helpful and kind. If you get the wrong one it can really suck. Sometimes carry real ale as well. Rather expensive, even for Sweden in comparison to many other good bars in Göteborg. I mainly go here if friends really want to go, or if I hear they have something new on. I put service 7, even though sometimes it really is very very bad. |
