Sweden is closed on Sundays, but fortunately this was one of the places that stays open. Very full on a Sunday night, but still very comfortable. Staff was very efficient and friendly despite the crowd. Very solid and changing tap list. Tasty food, especially the burgers. Worth going out of your way for.

Great intimate beer bar on Gothenburg’s second long street (Andra Långatan). It seems that the particular area where this bar is located is being (slowly) taken over by beer-centric bars which is great. Five or six years ago it was quite different. Anywho, second time at The Rover. Good selection of beers from Ocean Brewery, Närke and of course brews from Mikkeller, De Molen and some larger players in the European craft scene. Bar service was solid, bartender (tack så mycket Jonas!) could immediately tell I was interested in beer and let me sample Nøgne Batch 100 while I drank full pours of Oppigards Amarillo and a Närkne beer which was superb (and unfortunately the name of which I forget). Will definitely be back during this trip. On a note unrelated to beer: The Ass on Fire Burger was awesome, the best burger I have ever had in Sweden. It’s not all that spicy but its quite delicious and should be enjoyed with a pale ale or IPA.

The Rover is a great stop for good beer in Göteborg, they usually have a handful of Swedish craft breweries on tap and usually some Norwegian, Danish and American too. They serve the best burgers in town and have a very knowledgeable staff, if they have time to talk to you. The downside, precisley, is that they may not: The Rover can get very crowded and noisy, making it difficult to ask the bartenders for help or even reach the bar, so the best time for a visit is shortly after opening hours or early in the week.

A very good watering hole, I was set back into an old Czech hospoda when entering. Long room divided into 2 different seating areas. Very good service, even got served beer at the table. Good selection of Swedish micros, also good bottled selection. Friendly and welcoming staff, will def visit again.

A quality pub. Ambiance is good but it can get a bit crowded and loud. Service is great with friendly staff that can make sound beer-recommendations. You can usually find a big array of beers at fair prices. I was also pleasantly surprised with the food. Their vegetarian selection is quite good!

Small bar with some interesting tap beer, a pretty wide selection of bottles and great food. The service is top but the atmosphere can be a bit noisy. Worth a visit just for the burgers though!

The best burgers in gothenburg and also my favorite place if i want to drink something on tap. Nice service, good food, nice selection. Only thing that bothers me is that it’s so small and is always crammed.

Nicee place with a rather broad selection of swedish draught and international bottles. Deacent prices compared to Stockholm.

Friendly and relaxed bar. A few beers on tap and also some bottled beers. American, Swedish and Danish beers (mostly). Did not try the food.
